I do not know what I fear more: decline or helplessness.

i was addicted to valium...a wonder drug...
and i started myself on it...no one to blame...
i still am in recovery because i use it sometimes..
it is in my closet....

i use coffee and alcohol every single day...
and that probably won't change...

there is so much stigma involved with being addicted....
stigma is everywhere...the real stigma lies right inside yourself..
i know this because i have kept it hidden for a long time..
i have a lot to confess....

Why are people judged as addicted to Benzos?
Why is this different to being on other psychotropic meds long term?
Especially for those who can’t physically tolerate other meds?

I’m cutting down on Benzos at the moment...
I had one 5mg diazepam at about 5.00 am..
One a day is my “goal” for now,
I might have a lot of withdrawal symptoms or I might not
I had very bad withdrawal symptoms from Paxil
Which seemed to go on for years
(There used to be an online forum for withdrawal from that and it seemed many experienced similar
Or maybe it was the original anxiety/depression back, but worse ....

My “Ursida” has been around more since I’ve been cutting down on Benzos..
That lovely bear with the open mouth some people have loved to hate
She’s actually a nice bear, except to mean people

The Paxil caused a lot of weight gain, so that was one incentive to stop it..
Other than that I’m not sure there is much of a difference with cutting down and withdrawing from it, to cutting down or withdrawing from Benzos..
Benzos are very short acting (I think?) and maybe they cause rebound anxiety... which is maybe (partly?) why some people keep increasing their dose... but then the dose of other meds is also often increased, Paxil, celexa, Seroquel etc, by doctors .. I don’t know
