I forgot to take some of the medication for one of my physical illnesses. I haven't felt well after dinner.

Tomorrow I will take it easy. I will meet some friends, go to the Gym and see how I feel afterward. I will do work in the home according to my health, my energy.

It is always difficult to find the balance between when to take it easy because the body needs rest and when to push forward in fighting depression. But so is life. Nobody promised that it would be easy. What I can promise, however, is to do my best what ever my situation is tomorrow.

May you all feel that what you are able to do is OK (either little or much)!

I had a GP appointment today. And I did light housework. Tomorrow I'm having groceries delivered and then I will go visit my mom. I hope everyone is well!

I am home from the Gym. Of course I am not writing this to tell you how clever I am, but in case somebody should take an interest in the book I mentioned earlier: "The Psychology of Procrastination: Understand Your Habits, Find Motivation, and Get Things Done"(2021) by Hayden Finch PhD .

I sat up and read a bit in it after I had made myself ready for the bed yesterday. The first thing I wanted to do this morning was to tell about that, but I have waited until now. I usually take a break after training, so now I have the time to do it.

The author talked about perfectionism and other stuff as causes for procrastinations. I could not identify with perfectionism. In fact I took a conscious choice about never becoming one in my almost grown up years. It has to be the depression and procrastination chapters that will work for me.

The point is, however, that one does not have to have a diagnose to use anti-procrastination tools to help oneself. It is built over the same "shoe" as CBT.

She says that it is the people that uses schedules, planners, apps, that are the most successful people in the world. That is easy to understand, because the more you organize your life the more you are able to do. She says that if it is something procrastinators hate, it is schedules. They have to learn to get used to schedules. A schedule in itself will not help, but so will analyzing what we tell ourselves when we start procrastination, like "I will not be able", "I always fail" and so on. As one usually do in CBT one analyses one's thoughts rationally and probably see that one can make it. It is to have tools for how to start and stop that is the clue in the book. (I have a lot more to read about that and I will not write here about every part in the book). For now I just wanted to share about the main topic ...

Of course there are different sequences in grown up life. The young student with a couple of kids have to organize time different then the old pensioned person. But still there are similarities that organizes the day; dinner at the same time each day, get up in the morning at the same time each day, go to bed at the same time each day and so on.

A parent cannot sit down and say: "I am too tired to make dinner". The dinner is made either the parent feel for it or not. Life become different when the kids has left the nest. One does not have to do it, but it will do one good to continue the good habit.

Check up the book at Amazon to see if it is something for you (if you have problems to start doing things of course). Depressed people will always have such problems to some degree. That makes the book really interesting, because it touches about how many years have you delayed/procrastinated toward the education you wanted to start on, the visit to the friend you promised years ago, the job you wanted and so on ... The book takes the idea about 'procrastinations to a new level. It is not only about filling the dishwasher after dinner. It can be about your future goals (that you never have started on) as well.

I was successful at not optimizing my time yesterday. I will try it today as well, though I do want to get some work done.

1. Outdoor exercise of some sort
2. Homework
3. More outdoor activities, weather permitting

I have been MIA all month from the board here. It's been the roughest month I've ever had and I'm moving out of a dump apartment at the end of the month. Everything is going to storage and then I'm staying with a friend who is only consenting for me to stay there because I have no where to go. I had to go to BetterHelp online to get a therapist after I could no locate any sliding scale services and even with an MD referring me to my local healthcare system mental health over a month ago, I still have no found someone. I have so many issues that are coming at once, I need to sometimes just vent, breathe, and feel that I'm not alone. I lost a friend (or was she?) during this depression who blew me off totally. My health is suffering from the stress of it all.

Anyway - and sorry for the long preable..my goals for today are:
1. Get an IRS appointment as they never answer the phone for the verify your identity line and they are holding up my refund check.
2. The rental insurance adjuster is supposed to come this afternoon, no confirmation still even though I called and left a message at 8am. This is for damages I had to my furniture that was stored in my basement when it flooded June 20th.
3. Finish filing paperwork and packing it for my move.
4. And if time still, fill out forms for a educational grant I was approved for to try to get enrolled in a class in August.

Have a good day all.

Like Deilla's post say - This too shall pass (and soon I hope)!

I am satisfied with what I have accomplished today.

Plans for tomorrow:

- Jogging after breakfast.
- Making a shopping list.
- Empty the dishwasher.
- De-clutter.
- See to that the tables are presentable.
- Hovering one floor and a sofa.
- Buy groceries.
- Visit a pharmacy.
- Fill pillbpox for two days.

May you all feel that what you are able to do is OK (either little or much)!

I didn't visit my mom and I didn't get my grocery order. There was a mistake. But I did declutter my bedroom. Tomorrow, I will:

1. Clean the litter box.
2. Take out the trash.
3. Read in bed.

I hope all of you are well! Happy Friday!!

I have finished everything on my list and more. I feel satisfied with that. In the breaks I have worked with the book (title mentioned earlier). It 's one of the best I have read with regard to CBT for ordinary people who get stuck with regard to do "things" when depressed.

Plans for tomorrow:

- Gym after breakfast.
- Wash a really dirty floor in a room I use for storage.
- Wash the floor in the living room and in the kitchen

FREE TIME

A good weekend to everyone!

(I will stay in the forum during the weekend. According to the book it will take me, not only 28 days as I have read before, but from minimum 66 to some 200 and more days to build new habits that sits ).

FREE TIME
I have done everything. Feel proud about my work in the storage room. When we get older, we become more stiff and it can be difficult to bow, but I made it. I have continued to read in the book. I see that there are parts in the book that I know well from before. But it is still useful. Repetitions give almost always some benefits, and there will always come setbacks. In those times it is good to have read over and over, so it is stored in memory and ready to be used. This day I have made my dream come through, I have restarted my work from my home-office. Have prepared some months for that. I am not going to work for so many hours each week, but it feels good to be back in the game for an oldie like me. To have the feeling that one matters is important for all of us.

Plans for tomorrow:

I want Sunday free from doing this or that, but I plan to go out jogging after breakfast. That's it.

A good Sunday to everyone on the thread!

I did my jogging after breakfast as planned.

Plans for tomorrow:

Gym first, then I will use my time to be with friends tomorrow and after that buy some groceries. I need to remember to call somebody to come and fix a window. If I don't feel too tired when I come home, I will tidy the entrance.

May you all feel that what you are able to do is OK (either little or much)!

Yesterday was okay. I accomplished what I set out to. It feels like there's a lot going on today. I have someone coming for a maintenance issue and have a few errands to run.

1. Homework
2. Prep for Weds. appointment.
3. Make sure maintenance has room to work.

I did not have time to visit the Gym. I decided to go home early after some time with my friends. I didn't catch the man who was going to repair my window. May be I have to wait until after his vacation if nobody can replace him. Hope not. I changed my plans with regard to what was most important to do today. Instead of doing the entrance I sat down and made an up to date budget for each month. That took several hours, but now it is done. It is important to be updated.

Plans for tomorrow:

- Gym.
- "Go over" the budget one more time to see if everything is correct.
- Home office.
- Clean bathroom

May you all feel that what you are able to do is OK (either little or much)!

My procedure went well. And I even went out to eat with my mom. I've just been relaxing this afternoon. Tomorrow, I will:

1. Take out my trash.
2. Clean my kitchen.
3. Read in bed.

I hope everyone has a good day!

Yesterday was ok. Maintenance done, errands done, homework and meeting prep started but not complete. I have three Zoom meetings today. That seems like too much. I am tempted to skip two. I am trying to dread things less so I will just deal with whether or not to go when the time comes.

1. Outdoor exercise
2. Homework
3. All those Zoom meetings.

Since my brother has had so many medical appointments and mom has a compressed fracture in her back, I’ve been trying to keep my head above water. Certain things have had to take a back seat. I’m hoping to start catching up today and take some time for myself.

1. Clean kitchen
2. Run errands
3. See a movie

I hope everyone has a peaceful day.

This day something happened that stole my time and energy. So it is, life does not always happen the way one wants. But that is to be alive; changes. I will rest for now and then go for a walk to get some fresh air.

Tomorrow I will have guests, so I will not make other plans, then to use my time outside of that which I need to be with my guests, as best as I can.
