High anxiety. Kept busy today to distract myself from worrying about my dental issue. Depression is creeping in.

One of my budgies had a stroke, leaving her disabled. She was still able to climb the bars of her cage, albeit with great difficulty, but now she can't even do that. I've had to put food on the floor of her cage and I'm now also feeding her a formula meant for baby birds just to make sure she gets everything she needs. She is still mentally fully there, as her personality has not changed. She still makes the same noise she's always made, and her cagemate is unaffected. I get them out of their cages of course, and she stays on this little wooden playset I've got for them. I hope her disability is purely physical and does not lead to early death, although at some point I suppose it becomes a quality of life issue. These budgies mean a lot to me because I agreed to take them in after their prior owner, a family friend, took his own life. So they represent a lot more than just a couple of animals, but a great tragedy it was when their prior owner was so lost in depression that he saw no way out.
