I had a family gathering tonight and was talking to a cousin of mine that had the same pdoc as mine as was telling her of his opinion that I should get ECT. Well she said he did ECT on her and it was a disaster...she lost a big chunk of her life it didn't last but for a few weeks the lifting of her depression and she wouldn't recommend it to anyone. So now I am freaking out. I trust Julie and now scared. I have an appointment with my pdoc on the 31st and plan on making a list of things to talk about with him and this is going to be numero uno. Even if I don't decide to do it I'm still going to lose the weight because lord knows I could use it and heck it might help the mood. I just need to reassurance from those of you that have had positive experiences with the ECT.

No experience with ECT, but thought you might need a hug.

I've never had ect so have no personal experience with it. But when I was in hospital this summer, lots of women were having ECT and I saw it really helping them. The biggest side effect though that they all experienced was short term memory loss.

I'd say definitely talk it over thoroughly with your pdoc.

Can you get a second opinion? It might help put your mind at rest.
