I recently saw the doctor, and not just my therapist, who wrote me 2 scripts. 1 for adderall for my add, and the other for prozac.

they are helping me in school which started tuesday. i began taking the meds on monday and ate nothing that day. not a thing! on tuesday i had some granola in the morning, and 1/4 of a sub at lunch. for dinner on tuesday i had 1/2 a cicken patty on a bun. on wed i had 1/2 of a nectarine in the morning, no lunch, and no dinner. then i had a few fritos later that night, around 9. Today, i had the other 1/2 of nectarine in the morning, a few fries at lunch and some apple juice, and for dinner i had 6 small buffalo wings that i had to force down because i could hear my stomach. But i still wasn't hungry.

could this loss of appetite be because of the meds, or could it be somthing else? someone asked if i was anorexic today at school because i had almost nothing to eat, i told them i just wasn't hungry, and that i wasnt feeling good. even though i felt fine.

any help would be good.

OH, also, i went from 144 lbs. to 134 lbs. Is this bad? I wanted to lose weight ne ways cause at least i think i have a little bit of a chubby tummy. but is it still ok?

well, hope to hear from you,
- Ryan

I agree with Ozzie I think that it might be the meds. When I was on Prozac my appetite was never what it was before I started. I also experienced very bad dry mouth and had to carry a bottle of water with me. Just keep an eye on things and if you are concerned then talk to your doc.

The one thing I do know about Prozac; it decreases ur appetite. I am supposed to be on this as well. Its just sitting here waiting for me to take it. They also use Prozac to treat eating disorders. which to me is odd; loss of appetite. Anyway, this is a major side effect; I think one of the biggest. Let us know how is goes. If u lose to much weight, to fast, no thats not good. Its hard on the body; especially ur heart. Talk to ur doctor, please.

I also had the same thing... they started me on Prozac in the hospital. I hadn't eaten for several days before going in, and when I was in the hospital, the relief that I was taking action to help myself allowed me to begin eating again. After a few days in the hospital though my appetite when down markedly, I'm sure because of the Prozac. It gave me some nausea, ususally very very slight, not enough to be annoying but enough to keep me from eating well. The nausea went down over the course of a few days though.

Just keep your doctor well informed. It is worth putting in a call to him if you are not eating rather than waiting for your next appt.

Also if you can try to force yourself to eat something when you take the meds it might help a lot. Even a few crackers, something absorbent, in your stomach will have a great effect as compared to taking them on an empty stomach.

Good luck...
