thank you to those who post encouragement...have been reading threads and appreciate that so many reach out to others...feeling particularly difficult today; long time depression comes & goes, but feels like forever now...feel I should know better and I'm at work, so should be working! Came upon this site looking for some distraction from negative impulses and feeling desperate/alone...too hard to do anything really healthy today (taking paxil, but no more therapy after 20+ years) but this was attempt at "next right thing"...thanks again for being here

Welcome, hippydogs. Glad you found us.

After being in therapy for as long as you have, I guess it does seem discouraging. Would changing meds help?

I too am at work, and like you, sometimes I need to come here for distraction and some relief.

The people hear are great. Come into chat sometimes too. new to this Take care.

thanks for the response...yeah, it is discouraging after so many years of treatment...would like to change meds, but withdrawal from paxil is fierce (tried several times and just can't get lower than 15 mg) and the last doc I saw tried all these sedating alternatives (he thinks I'm bipolar)...funny, but it does feel better just connecting, even online...trouble at home leaves me struggling sometimes...want to spill the whole thing, but can't handle it right now...need the detachment & denial for a while longer...sigh...back to work & thanks again!

You're welcome. It's ok if you don't want to talk about stuff now, but when you're ready and you want to, you can post .

I took paxil a few years ago, I quit cold turkey, and it was hell! Is it possible to taper down paxil until you get to 15mg start taking a different med - small doses. Keep tapering paxil until you're off, and then increase new med. Does that make sense?

Take care, don't work to hard.
