As requested by the members, a supportive place for folks with dissociative disorders (such as DID, also known as multiple personality disorder).

This is a support forum, so discussion about whether or not DID or other dissociative disorders exist are not appropriate here.

Best,
DocJohn

Just wanted to bump this up and give a gentle reminder that we are not here to diagnose anyone nor are we here to argue about whether or not DID or any other DD exists.

Glad to have found you guys online!

Wanting some support and just to hang out with people like me that I can relate to and can understand what I am going through personally so I don't feel so alone. I think it will make it easier to cope and just to deal with life knowing I am not the only one suffering from this disorder.

Hi me too. My name is Kim Will you add me as a friend? 'cause I am so very computer challenged ...and Thomas Edison made my lap top. I am here for the same reasons you are...there is no one to talk to that understands me....It makes me mad that people expect me to act like Sybil or something....some times I want to mess with them and " act like I am switching." And some times I want to tell them that one of my parts is a" serial killer"... but all they would hear is " I kill people" and off to the nut house we would go
I have a really good therapist now ....finally!!!! uuggggg where do these suppressive therapist get their training?...I wish I could train a few...The firts thing I would tell them is to forget everything they learned in medical books and movies...hahaha ...I was trying to find a Tx. once and after I was told for the umptinth time that " we all dissociate and miss our exit" when he found out I was for real he says" yes I will see you but you would have to train me!!!!! I seriously thought about it.... Any way the cousolor we see now really knows her stuff and we are getting better and a few have been intergrated ...gotta go...work you know helps pay bills and lets me buy stuff

I was diagnosed with MPD now DID when I was in my early twenties. I have integrated some and had some more come out recently, disconcerting.

Does anyone find themselves finding new alters that had to be hiding for many years then they just pop up at bad times.

Not sure if this thread is for introducing yourself. I'm new to PC yesterday. I like that it is extensive and there are so many areas, but i joined mainly because of this section on the forum. I have something like DID. My T has called it DID and somewhere between DID and DDNOS. He once said i have a one foot in one and one in the other. He says it really doesn't matter what we call it because treatment is the same. I have a hard time believing the dx and told him i prefer we say a DID-like or related disorder. For some reason, i can accept this more.
I have been in therapy for 7 yrs, the last 5 with the same T. Progress is slow because of so much resistance from inside.
My life doesn't seem real to me, especially earlier years and the bits and pieces or memories i get from childhood and teen years.
Sometimes i think i am making everything up, even the memories i have and get, and i don't know what is real and not real....

Thanks for the Welcome! Want to connect with others with DID but I don't think I can reply to you for a while if you say anything to me! Hoping to share life's difficulties with others who can really understand. Never been in a group or met other people with DID so this is all kinda new to me. Not even really sure how to post!
