I'm been dealing with DID for the last 4 years. My alters have been identify, and my T and I are working on different issues. Recently I've been hearing voices, that are different from my inner alters system communication.

The Dr. at the partial program does not believe on DID diagnosed. I've been prescribe abilify, I have taken it for the last two days.

Does anyone is on abilify and is also DID?

Please need you input on this !!

I've never been on abilify I'm sorry! But I'm responding mostly because of your post in the schizo forum... It's hard for the doctors to understand, in my opinion, when a patient has both DID and schizo. They seem to want to rule one out and blame everything on the other. Only recently have I been able to tell the difference between the inner voices and the outer voices and that's only because of these forums!

You and I both know that the voices are different. I think you should continue the Abilify because it may help with the schizophrenia, and from what I have been told, no medication can "cure" DID so I don't believe it will matter when it comes to the DID, only the schizophrenia!

I enjoy my DID because I'm not so alone in here. But as far as the schizophrenia goes, someone else can have it, I'll give it to them. I hope something works for you and I hope you can find answers you are looking for! I'm sorry I couldn't be of much help and I'm sorry if what I am saying is not making sense, I tend to become very confusing when I am sleepy! Take care and I hope you are well!!!!

I have taken Abilify and I have DID. The Abilify helped the depression and helped the confusion some.
I know what you mean about voices...theyre different whether from DID or schizophrenia. (Inside the head..vs outside the head)
I hope the Abilify helps.
Thanks for this!

Sorry to hear about it getting worse for you. I hope the new meds help though. Good luck!

I've been on abilify and have DID too. Never heard voices from the outside, but had what T's were saying was some "Bizarre thinking patterns" (this was pre-DID diagnosis) so they added the Abilify to my SNRI's.

I only took it for a couple months. The only difference I noticed in me was that it flattened me out and took away ALL my emotions, which I didn't like. It was creepy...I wasn't numb, I wasn't sad, I wasn't happy....I was emotionless. So I stopped taking and switched to Risperdal which helped a lot more than the Abilify.

Everyone handles the meds differently so I hope you have some good luck with this one!! It is often trial and error.

Take care!!

I do suffer from DID and BiPolar 1 disorder, and i switched med after med after med. Personally i never had the voices, but did not reconize people as people FUN! not really because my doc prescribed me high dosages of risperdol, lithem, then seriquil. All of which just made me lay in my bed like a zombie. When abilify came out i started taking it and have been for a while. I have found is the only thing that helps with less side effects then most other atypical anti psychotics. The only warning i have to give is that you HAVE TO FIND THE RIGHT DOSE. Other wise it could be a mess, making you numb, or worsening some of the side effects it does have. But does work instantly and it does regulate my view of what is real, instead of all the silly things i thought were real. Hope this helps. I say stay on it for a while, find a dose that is good for you. Hope this helps!

We've taken Abilify & it was TERRIBLE! It was as if we were walking around with our eyes closed! We felt NOTHING! If you are under 18, DON'T take it!!
A warning from people who know..........
