Is this what your therapy looks like to you? If it is I am very sad and scared for you. I think you should put a trigger warning on this one, KP. I'm not sure who made this or what the purpose was but it is very dark and shows a type of representation of DID that is very stigmatizing. I don't think the film makers know much about DID/Multiple Personality to represent it this way. It looks like a movie from the 1940 or 50s. Sorry you had to find this clip at a time when you are struggling so much. ![]()

I actually came across this movie a couple years ago, it was made sometime around 2002. While I agree that the opening can be triggering and stigmatizing, it is actually a very good movie.
The important thing that isn't necessarily caught at first, is that he (Jeremy Sisto) is not having a therapy session... SPOILER ALERT!!!!! He is waiting for his appointment to begin. The "therapist" is an insider. What I find very good about this movie is the way the insiders interact and talk all at once. I had my T watch this movie so she could get a better understanding of what can be going on inside at any given time. It was very helpful for her.

serafim, that is how it is for us too. Ooops! that is how it is for me too. I described it like being in a large train station where there are many conversations going on at the same time and some in the foreground and some in the background. The person out in front tries to focus on the conversation at hand but is not oblivious to all of the inner surroundings.
What is the actual name of this movie I would like my T to view it too? Last edited by Bmee2; Jan 01, 2011 at 04:06 PM. |

I believe the name of the movie is "Inside"...it can be found on youtube. You could also search youtube for Jeremy Sisto...the main actor in this movie. It's quite short, and my T found it helpful.

Dear friends,
Firstly, please let me apologise for my naivety in not putting a trigger warning on my post. I sincerely apologise if anyone found it triggering and upsetting. This was most certainly not my intention. And secondly, thank you deeply for all your concerns, replies and checks. No, Hunny, this isn't what therapy is for me, and I so hope it is not for any one else either. What I liked about the movie was the representation of the others talking and moving about behind and around the main character, coming forward, then moving back again, the constant chatter going on in the background, the different aspects the others were demonstrating. For me, it was the first time that I had seen a visual representation of how I could explain to someone what it is like for me in my head (complete with 'interrogation' room, and hallway/tunnel, and separate room). I, again naively, was looking at it symbolically, not in a literal therapy/hospitalisation sense. Thank you all for your input. It is very appreciated. kp

KP,
I agree the parts do contend as in the movie and I think it is clever the way they depicted the internal therapist. It became more clear as it was explained. A short trailer doesn't show the whole picture and so it shouldn't. Believe it or not my therapy has never felt like this being dragged down a dark hallway. My therapist goes out of his way to have locations that are filled with natural light and lots of windows, so I was worried about the person seeing this trailer and being frightened from getting help. Yes, the alters vie for position like this and the memories of the hurt that went on are dark but the therapy experience, for me, has been anything but dark and never a proving ground. I realize I am lucky in this and that the light has always outweighed the darkness. Movies being what they are are limited in how they can help. I remember in Sybil though, the therapists room was so light even though Sybil's memories were dark. I am not holding up Sybil as being a 'best' movie or anything but I just didn't see any light in this trailer and I got concerned for those coming to this DD Forum who only know darkness and thinking this is how it is. I don't want to start a controversial thing here I was just trying to show a sensitivity to those who are new to dissociation. Forgive me if I came across as judgmental.

lol... funny thing, I used to use this kind of as an excuse for not doing therapy. I'd say 'I don't need to go to therapy, I have a perfectly good therapist inside my head that I talk to all the time!' ![]()

lol! If I knew my alters and I did have a t in there I probably would use it as a legitimate reason to not go, well legit to me at least lol... I guess that's not the best advice to be putting on here though lol I do think REAL therapy is always a wonderful thing for people going through these mental changes/realities to seek professional help, I've already been there and got as much as I could from it

I love this short movie. I saw it first a couple of years ago and sent the link to my ex-T, telling her that that was like a therapy session was often like for me (not the physical environment but the noisy internal one, with everyone trying to either get THEIR voice heard or drown out everyone elses!). My T enjoyed it, as in she said it gave her insight in what it can be like inside the dissociative's mind.
I LOVE the twist at the end. Clever little internal helper, that inside T is. ![]() |
