Saw her tonight and it helped so much. She had some new ideas for me to try to build self esteem / confidence. I know they will be hard, as so many of them conflict with "old messages" from childhood, but I can see they will help. Then I saw my GP which was also useful, especially when he said not to worry about getting to the end of this set of sessions with Ruth (the hospital recommended 10) as he will fill out another referral if I need more sessions. That was such a relief. It makes me feel that I can use these sessions freely, without worry about an end date. So I have come home feeling positive (and exhausted!).
Now I just have to get through this week and the second of my parents' evenings, and then it will be half term - a whole week with NO TEACHING!!!!

Thanks for being here for me.

well Caroline, Im thrilled for you. It sounds like Ruth is pulling out all the stops for you as is your doctor.

I wonder why that is?............................... Could it be becasue they see in you someone who is really worth while and they want to do all they can for you?

Just a thought.

Well done for you Caroline. Im counting the days till your half term.

All the girls Good session with counsellor Good session with counsellor

I'm so glad it went well. I'm glad you don't have to worry about the amount of sessions you have too. It sounds like you have a great cousellor and GP. Good session with counsellor

And a whole week with no teaching. I bet you can't wait!

A whole week of no school for me and no teaching for you...I'd say that's pretty cool.

So happy for you that the sessions with the t won't be stopped !! That should take off some of the pressure on its own. Good session with counsellor
& then a whole week off Good session with counsellor
Teaching is hard work anyway, without any other complications.

Thank you, girls. I know that my counsellor and dr see me as very worthwhile. I'm trying to see myself less negatively in response. Ruth was talking about evidencing - ie, using what I can observe as evidence of my own self worth. I'll keep working at it.

We'll count the days together - actually, I think I am counting the lessons!

Thank you Gem.

Yes, it's good to have that worry removed; it's been hanging over me for some time.

And I agree, my counsellor and dr are really good. I am very lucky, I know.

Thank you, zorah.

Yes, knowing my sessions are going to continue for the foreseeable future really helps. And you are so right about teaching. Fortunately today I get some of my non-contact time - that too is very much appreciated!

Thank you wanttoheal. I'm glad too. It's been a long time coming, and to see glimpses of the light helps so much when things have been so black for such a long time.
