Does anyone know what DES is? Well, I took it, a few times, and my scores are somewhere between 30-35. 30 is the cutoff for being evaluated for DID, which I don't think I have but it is worth a shot. I scored a 53 on a depersionalization test, which the score falls under server depersionalization. Should I tell my counselor about this or not? I already tried to tell her the feelings of unrealness. It didn't go out so well.

hi...is your counselor a therapist? i would say yes by all means talk to your counselor about this.....take good care and good luck.......kasva
eventually you would need to be evaluated by a psychiatrist for a diagnosis.
Thanks for this!

I think she's just a family counselor. Anyways, how do I tell her? Do I print out my scores and show it to her? What if she doesn't take me seriously? Gah! I never really been good with this stuff. How did any of you people get a diagnoses and how long did it take before you actually got one?

I found that every time I took any tests online including the DES and the sanity score, my results changed sometimes the scores said I may have severe problems other times they tell me I have a score that points to possible problems and other times the online ones say though Im normal I may want to consider taking the results to a professional.

I took my conflicting results to my therapist and psychiatrist and thats when I found out what you find online can be misleading and only tells you how you are that moment when you take the test.

the real DES and other exams that psychiatrists give when going through the diagnostics are not done with just those tests.. when I went through actual diagnosis for dissociative disorders quite some years ago I had to take a whole mess of medical and psychological tests. that way the psychiatrist could do complete and accurate diagnosis. I also had to give him permission to get my school files, and my medical files because some dissociative disorders require ruling out other problems too, and some dissociative disorders diagnostics process involves having some history of problems.

should you show your treatment providers? thats a personal choice some choose to and other choose not to. only you can make that decision. I chose to share mine with my therapist and psychiatrist.
Thanks for this!

I forgot to ask, does it cost money to get further evaluation? I think that was why I didn't get an evaluation when I needed to. Money problems. Also, what's [!!]? I spelled depersonalization wrong.

sometimes it costs money sometimes it doesnt. depends on the situation ie if the psych evaluation is done by court order the court pays for it. if its done at an agency that offers them for free or low income then its free or about 20 bucks sliding scale around here where I live, some places base how much you pay on your income and other places charge full cost.

the only way to find out how much it will cost you is by contacting a treatment provider that does diagnostics and asking them.
Thanks for this!

Hmmm. I wonder if me wanting to get evaulated has something to do with my liking for lables. Or maybe it is because if I can find out what's wrong with me, if there's anything wrong with me at all, I can get proper treatment, and maybe it'll put my mind at ease knowing. I want a professional to diagnose me. Self diagnoses can be misleading. Although, if one goes to professional and say they might have this or that, the professional can out rule things.
Thanks for this!

I took that Interview thing online, but since appearantly my flashdrive won't work, I think I'd might have to find some other way to save my scores. That thing took me a long time and I am to damn lazy to retake it right now.

Once I can find a computer that accepts my flashdrive, I can show what I took to my counselor and have her look at it.

Fun fact, my counselor was thinking about maybe I have PTSD, but she ruled out that after her talk with me. I don't have flashbacks persay, but I do have nightmares. She asked if they were realistic, I said that they weren't. Whenever I am in my dreams, they feel realistic, but there's also an element of surrealism. That's why I said they weren't realistic. They were surrealistic but they still scared me.

Like AmandaLouise I had the same issue. I think it's because I had different alters taking the test at different times. And certain ones know more about the dissociation and notice it's effects more then others. For my therapist though I scored in the 60s for the DES. DES needs scored professionally, and a battery of other tests.
Thanks for this!

I don't think I have DID but I do think I have a dissociative disorder, or it could be a mood disorder, or something physical, or nothing cold be wrong and I'm just faking it for whatever reason. Gah!
