I was wondering if any other female with DID has experienced a lot of inner activity during their monthly cycle? - 95% of the time I am connected to the real ME and I am able to function with in my own life - on my own.... but with in the last few years I seem to be a very different person (act out in ways unbecoming of me - sexually) when I am about to enter my monthly cycle.

The only trigger I can relate to this time of the month is that..... I FEAR being a woman, looking as one does when you are created female (due to childhood & adult sexual abuse).

BTW - I have been diagnosed with PMDD.... a disorder associated with severe emotional monthly cycles, with extreme mood swings that can have suicidal tendencies.

>>>>>>> I now await any and all replies.... THX.

Hi, my T dx'd me with PMDD amongst other things....I do have the extreme mood swings with suicidal tendencies. I also have acted out sometimes but usually I have managed to control that.
I fear being a woman especially certain... well....(I was raped for my "first time" by a "boy" I knew and there are other reasons)
I do not know what my full diagnosis is so I hope you are ok with me replying to you.
Take care,
Fuzzy

Thanks FUZZY,

Your rely was very much welcomed.... I have just started to put my PMDD & DID in the same realm as the other (possibly)... therefore I was wondering if others might be having a similar problem - I hate how I some times react during my cycle and how I am at times out of line with my own morals and thoughts during a single day or two of the moment we so lovingly call - the wonders of being a woman - Yeah right!! (yuck)

I deal with PMDD and know that when the months are bad, I have to back away from the world. It stirs things up inside GREATLY.

It's better, in bad months, to limit my exposure to people...especially those I care about.

One thing that does help is to recognize what's going on and know it will pass...it helps little, but still helps me to get through.

No the only thing I have found that increase my symptoms - is triggers. the more a trigger is there or for example when I am under alot of stress Im not always paying attention to how I am feeling so I end up not seeing the triggers unitl too late to prevent myself from floating off to la la land. I dont float off any more during my periods then I do without it. If having a period was a memory piece problems would have been there from the first period not just in recent years. DID symptoms are not like a cold coming on suddenly. the symptoms are there from the very first abuse memory that separated that memory during early childhood. Most peoples periods begin between 10 and 16 so thats when switching because of having a period would have been noticed. So this is probably related to your PMDD not the DID. my suggestion is talk with your treating professional for the PMDD maybe medication needs adjusting or new meds tried. Sometimes when a person builds up a tollerance for the meds the person notices symptoms suddenly starting up or new symptoms coming on.

I disappear more when I am more stressed and oftentimes when it's that time of the month, if my hormone levels are off balance, I react with more stress and it goes back to when I am more stressed, I disappear more. So that makes total sense to me why you would have more stuff going on at that time.

I'm not big on doctors but I go to an herbalist that helps with that kind of thing to keep things in balance.
