hi. im new here and just wanted to see what the hell is wrong with me.I think it may be something akin to DID..maybe. I was misdiagnosed with depression at 12 years old and was put on a huge amount of prozac. my mom didn't think i was "fun" enough i guess. nowadays im off the stuff, but find myself unable to connect with anything completely sometimes, and at others times completely connected. i feel like huge chunks of my past memories are missing, and sometimes feel like i'm in a haze when walking in huge crowds of people in hallways at my school. i feel sick all the time, sometimes dont sleep and sometimes sleep too much.i find myself not being able to recognize people ive known for years. my friends have withdrawn from me because i am at most times withdrawn from them. my imagination is extremely overactive, and i feel alone. sometimes i feel a strange sense of comraderie with people i don't even know. my friends say im erratic and cruel, because i never seem to show emotion. i dont know if any of this makes sense, but i would love some ideas as to what i should do. id like to be at least a little bit stable when i go to college. please help if you can....

Hi quess and welcome to PC. Do you have a therapist? There are so many levels of dissociation and it would take a therapist to figure out what's going on with you. It does sound like something is going on and I'm sorry you are struggling.

I think it's awesome that you are wanting to get help while you are young. It will make a big difference for you later on.

Best wishes as you work through stuff and glad you are here.

thanks alot for replying. i dont have a therapist. i've had two before. one when i was too young to really be able to express anything and another who was more interested in agreeing with my mother and doping me up. so im kind of turned off on them.

I can understand that. There are some good ones out there though. I hope you will be able to find a new one. You can opt out of taking meds and just go for the therapy part.

Hello Guess,
Welcome to PC, Wanttoheal is right a therapist is the only one that can figure out just what is going on. I encourage you to try to find someone that is right for you. It can be a trail and error process. But we are here to help support you.

Hi there and welcome!

I agree with what the other two have said. There are several dissociative disorders on the dissociative spectrum. You may have one, or it may be a symptom of something else going on.

You had therapy before, but it sounds that you were young and "pushed". What about if you did it today, on your own...for you and on your own terms, dealing with what you want to deal with? It can make all the difference.

Again welcome and good luck!

KD

I'd have to go with what the others have said, but just thought I would tell you I know what you mean by wanting to get things better by the time you go to college. Though it is possible to work on things while going to college, just so you know. I am doing that now. I am in my third year of college and have been in therapy for DID and some other things for nearly 2 years. So I wouldn't try to rush too much, there's still plenty of time and even though it may take more work going to college at the same time as dealing with things, it's worth it. Besides college would give you something else to think about while you are also focusing on yourself.
