Hi. I was just diagnosed with DID in the past 6 months, and I'm desperately looking for something to help me cope with this. I don't know very much about this diagnosis, although my therapist has helped me some. I don't really know what to expect, or anything... It's kind of confusing and scary. And it seems like now that I'm aware of the alters, I've been switching more... has this happened to anyone else? What did you go through when you first learned that you had DID? What has your journey been like? Do you have any advice or words of wisdom to offer me? Any info on DID you can give me? Anything would be helpful.
Thank you!
Dana

Welcome ptdrummajor. I am sorry that you are feeling so confused and scared. You have come to a good place to find support with others who understand what you are experiencing. Is your T experienced with helping those with DID? I am sure as you get to know the people here you will find some of the answers you are looking for. I am glad you are here. Please take care. You are not alone.

My therapist is a specialist in dealing with trauma and DID, so that's good. She's been very helpful, but it's still been really difficult for me. Thank you so much for responding!! I feel better just having someone respond to my post... I tried this other support group, but it was more general, and nobody responded except to ask weird Q's about DID, and I got really freaked out b/c I don't hardly know anything myself, and I'm looking for answers too...
So thank you very much!

Welcome Dana, I to have DID, It has been a up and down battle for me. I was pretty young when I realized that there was a difference in me. I use to think of my insiders like good and evil. I could always hear them. In Oct. 2005 I found my new therapist, she too specializes in Trauma and DID. It has been great talking to someone who understands. Everyones path will be different, I wish you good luck on your journey.... PM me anythime for support...Altheia
