Simple actions of my body / limbs sometimes helps re-orient me... so I try to just get up and move, clean the bathroom, fold laundry... It's actually really hard to do those things, but I notice/attend-to my limbs moving and I think it helps some.
So it had me wondering whether others have effective responses for dissociative episodes. Like maybe jogging, or something. I think my new therapist said something about drinking a large glass of cold water... but maybe that was for anxiety. Does anything help you? ![]() |

Also getting my brain working. Sorting a pile of mail, working an easy level word game, writing out a grocery list..anything requiring the least bit of mental activity.

there are many threads around psych central where many people have contributed to what their, grounding, breathing exercises are. here's one that may help you (and others) https://forums.psychcentral.com/post...echniques.html Edit to add... the thread I supplied a link to has some non working links inside it that do not work but if you read through the whole thread in this above link you will find lists of what was under those non working links and others ideas for grounding too. Thanks for those ideas. They sound really good. I'll write them in a note on my fridge.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the list, but the words "grounding techniques" were helpful. I wasn't familiar with that term and googled it. Bruskly rubbing arms and legs seemed like another good idea. Thanks again

in the thread that I linked to there are ......8 pages..... of posts where psych central members have posted about grounding. the list (from the not working link in the first post in that thread) is located in the first post on the second page.
