How many here has had/have a drug/drinking problem? And you know why?

Yes I do and yeah.

It makes the intolerable tolerable.

You're brave.

I'm an alcoholic, illicit drug and prescription drugs addict.

I gave up drinking after a 2 horrible months stay in hospital for liver failure. I was supposed to of dieded.. 2 weeks intensive care that I was out in dreamland, I never wanted to come back.

I returned to smoking weed only to wean off the withdrawals from oxycodone hydrochloride that I was on for almost a year.. prescription.

Life stinks without feeling euphoria. ..complicated..

Well anyway I don't drink anymore even though there has been two times that I fell off the wagon for the love of vodka lol but I don't have an addiction I don't feel the needs to get plastered every night I don't want to go back to that lifestyle made me miserable alcohol is a depressant why do I want to feel depressed I just want to die.

Oh, it gets darker, much darker.

But now I just love taking long walks during a nice sunny day then landing face down in to a bed of daisies.

Happy days. Stay positive champ.

I no doubt have a lesser drug and alcohol problem than many. But is still a problem.

As I sip on my adult beverage in a solo cup, I will say that I use alcohol as a self medication.

I don’t think that I ever get past the numb state. That is what I aim for and then just kind of hang out there.

I don’t actually think that it’s actually noticeable. I hope not anyway.

I’m pretty good at hiding under the radar; as I’ve always been.

I don’t like myself for it.

ETA:

Well. I came back to delete what I put here.

I decided to leave it.

The real goal is to be real right?

Just wanted to say that and leave it.

I did not have a drinking drugging problem, one of my alters did casual drinking but that did not last long. my system followed the abusers code do not tell. which meant that when this alter discovered alcohol was bringing attention to our medical and mental health problems and behavior wise the drinking stopped. I mean when you think about it. tell a doctor one time no dont drink then another says yes then another just a little you end up with wait a minute whats going on here questions for a doctor. the result in order to continue following the abusers code of do not tell the casual only when out dating, drinking had to stop.

We are alcoholic and addict...it numbs and deadens most of the inner conflicts...our inner world is sedated making life more pleasant. It’s like manna for our soul to relax and forget the daily intense opposing feelings from every part. For every no there is a few yes, for every yes there a few no’s followed by strife, turmoil, hurt feelings, fear,....

Right now...nvr mind.

It’s also more a necessary ball and chain that we won’t cut away. It’s our ticket to numbness and a quicker way out.

Thank you God, life, family, parents, and the rest of jerk off humanity.

I don't have a drink " problem", I drink maybe once or twice a year on special ocasions and I don't see that as too much of an issue.

I did go through a bit of a phase where I liked my drink, but even then.. it wasn't a problem, because it was maybe only once or twice per week.

Alcoholic and drug user, sober over 30 years.

The why is trickier. I come from a long line of high functioning alcoholics. I believe there is something genetic there.

I think it eased my mental distress.

And perhaps the occasional use of psychedelic drugs delayed or prevented some times of mental illness. There is more and more research out there on those types of drugs. And after trying a whole boatload of meds for depression over the last 10 years (wasn't depressed before that), I now take intranasal ketamine and it works like magic. So maybe there was something driving the drug use. I don't know.

Doesn’t really sound so o.t.c. Why good?
