I rolled down my window on my way to work today and made heart symbols with my hands to all the attractive women i saw in traffic.

The responses were absolutely magical.

Good! You are progressing fast. I hope you realize that you are a rare find. And congratulations on your promotion.

Drinking a lot of coffee, if it does not make you jottery, is associated with better longevity and prevention against diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases. I am trying to drink more coffee, not less.

Coffee for Cardioprotection and Longevity

Abstract

Coffee, a complex brew containing hundreds of biologically active compounds, exerts potent effects on long-term human health. Recently, a plethora of studies have been published focusing on health outcomes associated with coffee intake. An inverse association between coffee consumption and all-cause mortality has been seen consistently in large prospective studies. Habitual coffee consumption is also associated with lower risks for cardiovascular (CV) death and a variety of adverse CV outcomes, including coronary heart disease (CHD), congestive heart failure (HF), and stroke; coffee's effects on arrhythmias and hypertension are neutral. Coffee consumption is associated with improvements in some CV risk factors, including type 2 diabetes (T2D), depression, and obesity. Chronic coffee consumption also appears to protect against some neurodegenerative diseases, and is associated with improved asthma control, and lower risks for liver disease and cancer. Habitual intake of 3 to 4 cups of coffee appears to be safe and is associated with the most robust beneficial effects. However, most of the studies regarding coffee's health effects are based on observational data, with very few randomized controlled trials. Furthermore, the possible benefits of coffee drinking must be weighed against potential risks, which are generally due to its high caffeine content, including anxiety, insomnia, headaches, tremulousness, and palpitations. Coffee may also increase risk of fracture in women, and when consumed in pregnancy coffee increases risk for low birth weight and preterm labor.

Addressing the Neuroprotective Actions of Coffee in Parkinson's Disease: An Emerging Nutrigenomic Analysis
Antioxidants (Basel). 2022 Aug 16;11(8):1587. doi: 10.3390/antiox11081587.

Abstract
Caffeine is one of the predominant dietary components and psychostimulants present in coffee, a widely appreciated beverage. Corroborating epidemiological and laboratory evidence have suggested an inverse association between the dietary intakes of coffee and the risk of Parkinson's Disease (PD). Growing attention has been paid to the impact of coffee consumption and genetic susceptibility to PD pathogenesis. Coffee is believed to play prominent roles in mediating the gene makeup and influencing the onset and progression of PD. The current review documents a current discovery of the coffee × gene interaction for the protective management of PD. The evidence underlying its potent impacts on the adenosine receptors (A2AR), estrogen receptors (ESR), heme oxygenase (HO), toxicant responsive genes, nitric oxide synthase (NOS), cytochrome oxidase (Cox), familial parkinsonism genetic susceptibility loci, bone marrow stromal cell antigen 1 (BST1), glutamate receptor gene and apolipoprotein E (APOE) genotype expressions is outlined. Furthermore, the neuroprotective mechanisms of coffee for the amelioration of PD are elucidated.

The one thing i see as a negative with coffee is the creamers we use that contain Sucralose and such.

I have cut way back on the amount of creamer i use and switched to International Delight from Coffee Mate because ID uses only sugar and not Saccharin or Sucralose.

@Tart Cherry Jam -

I had a good talk with wife last night. Turns out, there's a bit more to this than just my previous bad habits and inability to see the big picture.

Last night she told me that we had fulfilled a "soul contract" and that no two souls can continue together once the terms of the contract are fulfilled.

In our case, she said, the contract was for us to both evolve and learn and grow.

She also talked about how two people, who are on different vibrational frequencies, cannot be together because of a mismatch in energy.

As i am understanding this, she believes that the purpose for us being together/marrief for 8 years was to help us both learn and evolve from one another. She feels (apparently) that her work in this area is complete and there's nothing left for her to accomplish.

It also explains the lack of sexual intimacy over the past 3 years and the abrupt stop in our sexual activity a little over a year ago.

I had always blamed it on the hysterectomy or menopause, but her explanation shed new light on this subject.

She explained that two people - like us - can be "soulmates," but only in the spiritual sense and those people can actually not connect in the physical world, and she maintains that this is the case with us.

So, if im understanding this correctly, her feeling is that we came together to learn from each other and prosper for a limited time (in this case, 9 years) and its time for her soul to ascend to the next level alone.

Kinda cosmic, but i have no choice but to accept it.

She really is a great person. Super sweet, but incredibly blunt and truthful.

I was once totally unable to see how my actions affected others.

I was selfish, which i came by naturally as an only child, and i never was able to pick up on signals, so i spent a long time not understanding why someone was hurt and couldn't see how i had hurt them.

I learned this only through therapy.

About a year ago, i had an experience where my eyes opened and i began to see all the things i had been oblivious too.

I could suddenly feel what others felt or how something i said or did had hurt them. It was like taking off a blindfold.

But, i guess it was too late to save us.

Now, i just concentrate on making the people around me feel valued.

I try not to complain and project positivity, even if I'm feeling down or depressed.

I'm praying for the chance to be something somebody can appreciate.

I am lucky that all I need in coffee in milk. No sweetener and no flavorings.

@JustTotallyLost, you are very kind to try to attempt sensemaking with respect to all this stuff about vibrations energies and soul contracts. Your current wife is truly lucky to have you. I am sure you will have more than one chance to make other people appreciate you.

Not often at all. In fact, the bottle of scotch i had on hand was from 2 years ago. I just thought it might be fun to kill the last 2 shotglasses left in the bottle, since i was home for the evening. It was just a nice, warm feeling.

Every now and then, i may drink a beer after gardening, when its really hot outside, but its rare beyond those circumstances.

I'm not against alcohol, in as much as I'll accept a glass of wine if i am having dinner, but i don't drink for recreation.
Thanks for this!
