I don't know if I have anorexia. I know I have really bad dysmorphic issues, my doctor told me that. I haven't seen in almost four months now though. I hate my body, and I haven't eaten in almost two months now. I eat about two Ritz crackers a day and drink a lot of tea. I also make myself throw up if I do eat an actual meal, and my family doesn't know any of this because I just tell them I've eaten while they're at work and stuff.
I haven't been diagnosed but I think that I might have a really bad problem. I don't want to go to a support group and have them telling me that I'm just being pathetic and nothing is wrong with me, but I don't want to go to my doctor and tell him what I've been doing.

I hope you can decide what you need to do, something is telling you deep down maybe, that you want to change, since you wrote this post. But only you can make that decision. I hope things do get better for you, it is so hard hating the way your body looks and feels, especially when it's not what everyone else sees. Good luck.

It sounds like regardless of how anyone would label your experience, you feel like you might need some help around it. I actually think going to a support group sounds like a good idea. You can listen to others' stories and see if you can relate or not. Disordered eating is not a black and white, clear-cut thing, and you don't have to have been struggling with it your entire life in order to consider it a problem. It's a problem if you think it is, if it interferes with your life. Good luck on your journey. I hope you find the answers and support you need.

I doubt that support groups tell people that those people are being pathetic and there is nothing wrong with them AT ALL - meaning, to ANYBODY. This is just not what they do.

In YOUR particular case, you obviously have a problem - see the bold part in your OP.

Given that support groups do not negate anybody's concerns, as a rule, and, your concerns are objectively very serious, seeking support from support groups sounds like a totally safe course of action for you.

Your relatives are being a bit absent-minded if they are not noticing the pattern of your "having eaten while they are at work" over the course of two months, every day. If somebody is not hungry once or twice and hence does not participate in a family meal, that is OK, but if you are making excuses for not participating in family meals ever, even absent-minded people will eventually catch on to what is going on. They cannot be THAT blind.

It is better to start acting now, on your own, before you get questions from the family members. Take it into your hands, please.
