I can't look at myself in the mirror. I'm disgusted with myself, my weight, and my eating habits. I want to starve myself. That's the only way because I do not have a healthy relationship with food. If I start eating, I can't stop. But if I don't start, then I have considerably more self-control. I'm too embarrassed to bring this up in therapy. I don't know why I'm writing this. I guess I just need to get it out.

Getting it out here on PC is a great start, Espresso! But starving yourself is not the next step. If you can't bring this up in therapy, could you write your T a letter, an e-mail or a text ahead of your next appointment? It's important that you talk about this. And isn't that what therapy is for?

You may also want to consider the possibility of getting involved with an eating disorders program. Here in the Twin Cities we have: The Emily Program. There's probably something similar where you are. Eating disorders are serious business. Please don't let this develop into that.

By the way, are you familiar with Kati Morton? Kati is a therapist. She's on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, & she also has her own website. Kati has a special interest in eating disorders. I would highly recommend you check her out. Kati is wonderful!
Thanks for this!

Maybe a good topic for your T would be regarding self-control. I also know that through my DBT group we work on mindfulness....being aware of our thoughts & actions & learning to be in control rather than allowing them to be in control of us.....by initially being aware....then having the control to take the appropriate action because when we are thinking we don't act before we think.....& that's where the lack of self-control happens....the action happens before the thought process happens to stop the action.

Hope you can find some better help with that....know it's difficult....but it's definitely an important skill to have & to take care of yourself with.
