this weight! errrrrrrrrr my hubby took some pics yesterday and it made me sick! I have gained about 30 lbs or more since I was injured. I was already overweight but now just plain old fat! I can't stand myself anymore. I hate looking in the mirror anymore.

I don't like looking in mirrors either. I'm 115 pounds overweight. Since my body is part of "me" just like my head and heart, I try to think kindly of it and realize that it is trying to help me, often in ways I may not understand. If one thinks about it independently, it's odd that we think being a certain way (weigh? :-) is wrong in some way or looks bad.

You have a busy little, buzy little bee as your avatar. If you hadn't been injured, would you have been rushing around? :-) Could your injury and added weight be a message to slow down in some way? Sometimes I think our bodies, not having words, are like dreams and we have to unlock what they're saying and straighten that out before things will change. My T said though that there's a time limit on that though (kind of like the period where a child can learn to talk or will never talk).

I try to be as interested and look as kindly on my body as I can as otherwise it's kind of like fighting myself and I don't think that can work.

I feel for you. I too had some bad car accidents and my *** doubled. It makes me sick. The injuries I sustained have prevented me from being able to exercise like I'd like to. I know my hubby is disappointed (he was injured too). We'd love to get back in shape. Not eating, starving myself, binging and purging aren't something I can do. Plus the chronic illnesses I have from the accidents is a double edged sword. I could try to not eat..but my illnesses make my body fight back and hold onto any calories...it's not a win-win situation.

Baby steps and a lot of them!

bebop, I am sorry you gained the weight... I struggle with mine too. I was 40 lbs overweight, but have managed to get rid of it. And I did it in a healthy way without purging or starving myself. I tell you this because I want you to have hope that things can get better. I do admit, that my losing weight was not really from a lot of exercise--I am a little on the lazy side. I had to basically snack most of the day on healthy things--no large meals at all--just small amounts of calories throughout the day. This kept my metabolism going and made it healthy because I was consuming enough calories. My diet lasted 23 months!!!

I really feel for you--it is difficult on the self image/esteem to be overweight. Please hang in there and keep trying to do what you can do...know that you are a good person--no matter how much you weigh.

(((bebop))) I gained SO much weight from being injured. (It didn't help that my lower jaw was off hinges for 3 years before they let me have surgery, and all I could eat/drink was liquid.)

I did lose all that weight. It did take another 2 years after surgery. Then the hurricane came and I gained from the stress, and the canned foods! But again I lost it.

I went through 2 years of meds trials, and each one caused weight gain, and didn't work for pain. got to lose I lost it again.

I have lost the same 5 lbs 4 times in the last 5 weeks. got to lose But that isn't stopping me. I keep gaining strength and wisdom against stress, and I am doing better. This time, I will keep it off. At least, right now, I am down that 5lbs and working on the next 5 lbs.

Hang in there! Don't get stressed about it, that will work against you. Just take it as something you do... eat healthy, try to not be stressed out. got to lose

But does it taste good?

I was reading about "slow food". http://www.slowfoodusa.org/index.html and think I might look into that.

Hey bebop, how are you doing today? Still managing to eat the low carbs? This is going to be a tough thing for you to do, but I know you can do it.

Have you thought about setting goals? A short term goal (week), mid term goal (month), and then longer term goals? When I lost my weight, I set weekly goals of...things like making it a week without fast food or eating 4 servings of vegetable a day for a week or going dairy free for a week. My monthly goal was generally to lose 2-3 lbs. Some months I made it, but some I did not.

These are just my thoughts...let us know how you are doing...

so far so good I think. I only started tuesday but did well. I know it is going to be really tough. I have done it before but I was still trucking then and it was really hard to do eating at truck stops. today for lunch I had 1 smoked sausage and a salad. dinner was part of a ribeye steak, brussel sprouts and a salad. very small portions. I am a carb junkie though so it is going to be really hard. gotta have my taters lol

I know exactly how you feel Be..
Sorry you feel icky right now.
It's motivation we need to get started, which is the hardest part. Weight gained from injury isn't intentional and surely not your fault. You're just not as active as you once were before.

We should talk and try to encourage each other...don't be so hard on yourself okay.

As far as I know it shouldn't but since you're eating less than you usually do, that might be causing your problems... or maybe a stomach upset?
