Maybe some of you will have seen my post in the Depression forum about my lack of motivation. Not only am I unmotivated to do things, but that stretches to eating as well. I get hungry...but I can't be bothered to go upstairs and make any food. Even when I think about food, I still can't be bothered. This has been going on for about a week. As I write now, the last time I ate was 1am Saturday morning, and currently it is 10.30am Sunday morning. So that is 33.5 hours...And all I had was a small pizza. Even then, it was one of those 5-inch diameter frozen pizzas. The other day, I went 28hrs without eating anything.

You may not think this is too bad, but I am also *enjoying* not eating, a little. That's the part that concerns me a little, the fact that I am enjoying starving myself. But also partly the fact that bI have eaten little isn't my fault: it doesn't take much to fill me, recently. So that has also played a part in my low calorie intake.

I don't know what I want from this post, maybe just a few understanding replies or something.

Hi silver queen,

I know we have chatted about some of this, & I have read this post. It's getting late right now & would like to spend some time with providing a meaningful response. I will get back with that when I have some time to think & not so tired (don't like it when I don't make sense). Guess I am assuming that I make sense at other times...

I'll be back
Debbie

sorry about taking so long to get back...too much to do.

Is there any way that you could have food where you are insteat of having to go upstairs to get it. That way when you feel hungry, you don't have to go anywhere to get it & it can just be there. Even if you have munchies for the time being while you are feeling unmotivated. At least it will be something to eat rather than nothing. It might be better if you could have a microwave located close in order to heat up like the cup of soup or something warm, but if that is impossible, then try to eat what you can, even like healthy cookies of something like that.

Just a thought for the short term until you are feeling a little better.

Debbie

Thatnks for the suggestions Eskie. But I have even still got some food in my room, and I don't want to eat it...and there is no way I can get a microwave down here. Oh well.

just eat healthy baby snacks all day, like power bars and water. They are low in calories so if you like losing weight, you still can, but these usually have plenty of vitamins. I think they're yummy! (and not as healthy as they claim to be, but it's better than eating nothing) they require no preparation or anything, just drink water w/them because otherwise you'll go crazy w/thirst. They're not really that healthy, but again, minimal effort, and still way better than eating nothing. Please try to take care of yourself!

Okay, fruit will stay good in your room. Anything you can get down is a positive.

I recently talked to my doctor about fluid intake VS food. Its more important to make sure your fluid intake is high. At least some kind of nutrients will be getting in. And of course our fluids affect every part of the body. Maybe for a SHORT term, fluids would be easier to take in? I am not saying not to eat. Would be great to get something down with some fluids.

Just thought I would share this. I found it interesting when my doctor talked to me about this. I have more issues with food intake then fluids. He is just hoping for now that the fluids can maintain me.... short term.

No appetite? Here are two foods I know will keep you hungry and going for more food. Pancakes and onions. Not together thou. These two foods I find make me hungrier.

If I have pancakes in the morning, then I am hungry all day.

However, I go thru days of not eating much, and then bounce out of it, especially after pizza (maybe it is the cheese). It might be just a phase you are going thru, or maybe you just dont like to eat in the upstairs kitchen for some reason.

Try some canned juice like V8. You get the vitamins, and it may stimulate your appetite.

Restaurants too are good places to pull out of these phases.
Watching and smelling the foods - plus the great atmosphere of a little elegance may help.

Hey good idea. Gets you out of the house and in a great atmosphere. Then you have lots to decide from.

One of my doctors said how good gatorade is. It can do wonders for the body. V8 was suggested as well. I have heard this stimulating your appetite as well.

How are u doing with this?? Let us know please......

Hey, well I thought I would write an update.

I have managed to make myself more motivated for food, I see making food now as a necessity, so I have to do it. My appetite is still not great, but I have regained the weight I lost, since I started eating properly again. I usually have one good meal a day, which I don't think is too bad. Next time I go foodshopping I will look out for the Gatorade and V8 juice, if I remember...

Thanks for all the suggestions. Unmotivated to eat
