Went for a heart-pacing walk today (to the store), back with a heavy package. I felt worn out after but that is to be expected as I am so unfit.

Weighing in a day early tomorrow as Friday is a holiday and don't expect to lose anything as I went to a wedding on the weekend and succumbed to some of the decadent chocolate dessert. I also had popcorn on Sunday. So with these cheats - can't expect to have a loss.

I'll report in tomorrow on my hopeful loss but probable gain.

Thanks Roadie

Had a small gain and lost very few cm. But I have to suck it up as it was my own fault.

I have had one hot cross bun this weekend and take ownership of that.

Weigh-in tomorrow. Don't know what to expect having skipped last week's weigh-in. (My consultant was on leave and I didn't want to weigh-in with anyone else). I have been on the straight and narrow with my plan 98 % of the time. I made a cannelloni last Sunday and since I have never made it before and it looked wonderful, I had a small portion. But I kept the portion small. So I have certainly broken my ketosis with those carbs. But hey, I reckon there will be times when carbs are inevitable.

I promised myself I would start gym last Monday. And when Monday morning came, I just. didn't. want. to. go!! So still not exercising. I'm as lazy as anything. And I know that is not helping my weight loss efforts any.

Dear Sabrina ~

I commend your facing head-on the reality of carbs existing in this world ... They do!
As for exercise, I put the library staff on the problem and they have found your solution.

I had a small loss, not much for 2 weeks but my cm \ in loss was nice.

I am feeling the loss on my wedding ring (most important) and a little on my clothes.

I am soon coming to the end of the 8 week program that I signed up for but have no intention to stop my efforts there. To me, I have spent my money well, for I have learned a lot about myself and my eating habits in the last few weeks.

I feel I have grown a lot. I still have some bad habits, but I own them and will continue to try and change.

I will continue to post my feelings and progress. It is helpful to have something to look back on.

Thank you for all your support.

Sabrina, I used my vacation last fall to outline a fitness program that I've been able to stick with--at least in the broad outlines. Now that your wedding ring's loose, I betcha that'll be a great motivator to keep going.
Fondly,
Roadie

Hey Sabrina, I'm glad the weight loss is working for you. My wedding ring is loose again too! Can't get it off yet, but at least I can move it around my finger.
Congratulations on job of hard work, well done. Keep it up!

I had a small gain this week, nothing too significant. I'll put it down to PMS (and the bowl of pasta I had )

My inch loss is significant though and I am feeling it my clothes now.

So small baby steps but not giving up.

Next week is my last weigh in and then I am on my own. I can't afford the monthly fee to continue weigh ins but my consultant said I can sneak in a weigh in when I go to get my nails done. So I will be weighing about every 3 weeks.

Keeping on keeping on!

Small little loss this week and a couple more inches down. I'm at the end of my official weigh-in's but my efforts will not stop there. I intend to carry on with the program to the best of my ability until I reach goal weight. I don't care how long it takes.

Good for you, Sabrina! It sounds like it's all working well together ... a few grams gone, inches missing, a mile walked ... It becomes part of the pulse of life--beat beat beat--and without thinking of it time passes. At some point you'll think, "You know, I'm feeling just right!"

It's nice meeting up with you here.

Thanks so much for following my journey with me. I really appreciate it. I have had such a wobbly week. Back on track as of today. One day at a time. One hour at a time. I can do this.

great job! how do you know that/when your body is in ketosis? is that something the counselor could measure?

It is measured with a urine test. After a week with strictly no carbs, I was in ketosis.

Well, I am having some difficulty sticking to plan right now. Especially since my Mom's illness and hospitalization. I have resorted to a few comfort eats or I am not eating at all. Either way, I'm not losing right now. I am finding my weight loss VERY challenging right now.

Your Mom's cancer probably has taken prescidence over everything else, hasn't it, Sabrina? I'd be overwhelmed by it ~ find it had to focus on much else.

This is still so new ... Maybe just let it be on the side path for now. It will wait . )

Gosh, time for an update. I have been completely off the wall for weeks now. I have just reverted to all my old ways and have no doubt that I have regained the lost weight (though I haven't stood on a scale).

I have made a personal resolve to return to gym (after a comment from hubby) and along with no carbs, hope to see some results.

It just amazes me how I buckled under pressure and just went back to my old ways.

You know yourself best, but you carried a pretty heavy load for an extended period--marked by two rather serious extensions, and it's not over yet. You don't drive, and the hospital is at a distance--adding a further layer of complication. Your husband must regularly travel in his work, which is a separate stressor for you--and in this case also an interrelated one. And the list goes on.

I don't know how much stress is normal in the lives of the women you know in South Africa, Sabrina--but by my standards, raising a teenage son in a somewhat isolated area with a husband who's work requires him to travel so much--sometimes outside your country--would be the maxamum stress i would expect myself to routinely process.

Exceeding that limit would place me in jeopardy ... And I'd expect to need serious, regular, and probably professional support to get me through whatever. Whatever being, for example, my mother being struck with life-endangering cancer.

You say you're amazed (& sound disappointed) at how you "buckled under pressure and just went back to my old ways." I'm amazed by how much strength you expect of yourself! Far more than you do of your mom, or you'd wouldn't think it too soon for her to be back at work!

I'm also somewhat concerned about the "comment from hubby" which seemed involved in re-starting the gym/diet initiative. After all you've been through, I am very, very hopeful it wasn't one of those thoughtless comments like, "You've put that weight back on, haven't you, darling?"

Thank you so much Roadie.

It wasn't one of those thoughtless comments but rather a statement of fact that gym helped once before and if I want results I should gym again. I don't know what hubby thinks to himself about my weight. I know he is not happy about it, but he never gives me bad comments or runs me down. On the other hand, I can't remember when last he told me I was beautiful, or whatever. That hasn't happened in forever.
