Hello, everyone.
I am 23 years old, 176 cm tall and weight of 99 kg. Since I drink a lot of beer, I have developed a big "beer" belly. As expected, I want to remove it. A bit info on my eating habbits. I like to eat a lot of meat (mostly chicken, but occasionally have a beef steak once a week). I overall eat meat around 3-4 days a week. Another thing, I can't sit and have a meal without 2-3 slices of bread. I've been doing it ever since I was a kid and can't simply quit doing it. And last, but not the least, the beer drinking. I usually drink on Friday or Saturday, but I have around 5-6 330 ml bottles each of those nights. As for my exercising, I don't do much. I have a velo-bike at home which I rarely ride (around 30 minute sessions now and then). I will soon start uni and won't have time for any gym time-spending, so the velo-bike and home exercises are my only option. So, what would you recommend me considering all of this? Any tips for the belly, as well as for overall weight loss? I know I am being very lazy, but... Thank you and appreciated. |

Hi there, my young friend
![]() First off, I'll state the obvious - Some sacrifices are going to have to be made. If you're looking for shortcuts, let's end this conversation right here ![]() The good news is that you're young. Your body is much more tolerant to drinking/eating poorly now than let's say 10 years later (i.e. at my age of 33). Testosterone (assuming you're a guy) and base metabolism rate is close to optimal. The other good news is that there are many possible paths to weight loss. You can pick the one that fits your lifestyle the best. I'd like to spell out multiple options. - Exercise + no change in diet - Exercise + a stricter diet (there is a huge spectrum here ... could be slightly stricter or much stricter or anything in between) - Eating/drinking the same stuff but less of it - Eating/drinking the same stuff and the same amount, but portioning/spreading out your meals over the duration of the day I'd like to know which of these options appeals to you the most. In other words, what specific sacrifices are you willing to make ? Then, I can offer you more specific advice that you can apply to your lifestyle. The question is how badly you want to remove this fat. That will determine your path forward. The other question is how many kg do you want to lose ? That will also help with determining your path.

Thank you for your reply! What I want to do is continue drinking beer, but maybe reduce my calorie intake and the amount of food I consume. I guess this + some exercise might make a difference.
