So as a result of some blood work results...I am very carefully monitoring what I eat mostly using MyfitnessPal. My short term goal right now is to lose about 10-15lbs by Christmas. More impotantly though, is just starting to think about what I am eating more carefully. I’m pretty sure I got a decent plan and one I think I can stick to for the long haul. Long term I could stand to lose 100-110lbs but I wanna do this slowly in hope that it sticks! As a result I decided to 10-20lb increments for goals. I figure if I break it down that way it will feel a bit more attainable and each time I reach a 10-20lb goal there will be some sense of achievement which I hope will keep me motivated. January I start a diabetes preventio class for a year which will also be some support.
Here’s hoping I get it together.

Hello Delusions! (okay, that doesn't sound healthy when I say it aloud )

I wanted to chime in with some support. I found accountability posts have helped me. I kinda went to town on the Daily Exercise thread. It's not so much about meeting the targets for me, as being accountable for sticking with the plan. So I feel compelled to do the workout on rough days rather than admit here that I skipped too often.

That worked better for me with the diet. I focused on cleaning up my diet so that I would be more healthy and feel better. The weight loss came about as a consequence. And I incrementally improved my diet, because I knew that a strict and abrupt change would not be something I would stick with. It's been well over a year, and so far so good.

Good luck!
Thanks for this!

I think it's great that you are setting smaller, more attainable goals. I wish you the best on achieving them and on your weight loss journey. I find having an accountability thread helps a lot, hence my exercise check-in thread. Feel free to join me there if you ever want to keep track of your exercise as well!
Thanks for this!

Thanks. It has to be kinda sudden I'm so much an all or nothing person. I did find some exercises to do in the house with winter closing in. I actually did pretty good so far with the healthier eating. The exercise thread will be good, I plan to start shorter times initially, but my plan is to start tomorrow.
Thanks for this!

So, today marks the end of day 4, of my healthier eating with the help of the myfitnesspal app. It lets you know how much calories, carb(g), fat(g), protein(g), sodium(mg), and sugar(g) you are eating. This also makes it easier for me to pre-plan at least the night before. I think I am doing pretty good.

Exercise has been a little bit harder for me to get started but I WILL.

I think I am going to use this as my check-in or at least something like it.
Thanks for this!

I’ve lost 10 pounds so far. I really need to get exercise in now. Though I got plenty of it from Wednesday to today...my young nephews were here. The youngest was practically glued to my side most of the time. I did have 2 VERY little cheats on Thanksgiving, Stuffing and Pumpkin Pie.

Finally, I got off my booty and started walking. I got over 10,000 steps in, which for me amounts to about 3.3 miles. My goal is to walk about 8-10 miles a day by the end of March when my family is going to Disney. When we get back from Disney I plan to work on getting up to running my first ever 5k by September or October. I am only putting this here to remind myself.

I am now down 28.5 pounds total. I do a 5 mile walking video in the morning and today I have already snowblowed for an hour and will be doing another approx an hour when the news predicts the worst of the snowfall will be over.
Thanks for this!

31.5 pounds! Yay!! I'm so excited. I want to do another 31+ pounds by mid-March. If I continue to work as hard as I have been the last month and a half, I shouldn't be too far from that. Yay!
Thanks for this!

I have to say I feel really lazy not working out today. It's the first time(I think) I have not worked out since I started earlier this month.

Missing only one day in a month sounds pretty good to me. I hope you don't feel too discouraged. It sounds like you've been very consistent so far.
Thanks for this!

I was...but...I got myself out of that funk. Decided that starting Jan 1, I am changing up my workout. It will be Mon through Fri. Mon, Wed, and Fri will be my walking video(1 hour), and Tue(30-45min) and Thur(30-45min) will be some exercising to help prepare for starting to run in April. I found a free app that will help with that. I'm close to 220 and I'm shooting for 190 by March/April or so. I'm working on that schedule right now.

So I have decided to weigh myself less. However, I am measuring my waist, and will probably start doing other measurements. I think I am gaining muscle so losing weight "stalls" often on the scale. However, I know that when I measure myself it's more accurate to whether I have lost.

That's great! I remember crossing the 200 pound threshold something over a year ago. It's a very nice psychological boundary to get past.

Well done so far and good luck!
