I'm going to try and make this short, I have a DX of major depression.
Recently I have noticed I'll feel really depressed and low and a few or so minutes later I feel okay, like it's not so bad and there's no issue and not sure why I was so upset before for it. I don't have manic episodes, I don't believe. I know bipolar you reach extremes, that last hours or days and my issue is never really extreme. And the time frames are shorter. Does this make any sense or does someone else have this issue? Also I noticed I second guess myself more than usual. Example I usually check my hair straightener is off 3 or 4 times and say it outloud. Now as I leave the kitchen I think did I close the fridge good, turn around to walk back and check. Same thing with my car door, if it pops in my head I have to go check. This probably has nothing to do with anything but maybe you have some insight. Thanks for your time. Hi, I know what you mean about anxiety about doing things. Double checking is not bad. It is when it keeps happening and happening 5 or 10 times that it begins to disrupt our lives (OCD).
I think it is difficult to diagnose in the room with a professional so I avoid trying to diagnose the illness. Also many disorders have overlapping symptoms. The Anxiety Chat is 8PM EST on Friday. Depression Chat is 9PM Thursday. Either group is a supportive environment. Quote:

There are many other forms of OCD. Not all are about routine actions. Some are about a sense of order. Some are about being supersticious. And then there is more. My understanding is that what is linked to them all however is a sense of forboding or catasrophic thiking if something isn't performed or placed as the mind sees as 'correct'.
Do you feel something bad may happen if you fail to do these actions? I don't discount your depression. What I wonder though is what is triggering the happier thoughts and upswings? What suddenly makes you feel good? What if you were to use 'association' to remain grounded? |

I have major depression and anxiety myself. I have found lately that when I get stressed I have the mood swings you are talking about. You are right, these short term highs and lows are not bipolar. I think it is your brain trying to level out, but can't find a "sweet spot". I recently started on Cymbalta and it seems to be helping a lot.
Are you on meds? Have you been diagnosed by a doctor? If not, maybe you should check into starting treatment. Therapy might help you too. There is a lot going on in our brains that we don't consciously think about and talking might help identify issues you are not aware of. PM me if you want. ![]()

I am not sure what you mean by association. However the ups and down usually seem to coincide with what I don't want to happen, sometimes it maybe something else. Honestly the past few days I've felt more stable regarding the ups and downs. Thanks for your insight!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
