Hair loss. Crazy. For the past year. A year ago told my pdoc and she said eat more protein. Then she said use nioxin. Then she said it takes time. Then she had me take a thyroid TSH test and said it's borderline high, which wouldn't cause hair loss. (I couldn't get up the nerve to tell her my online research said hair loss can occur with low or high TSH scores.)

I will admit I have been super stressed for a year, and the last big stress was moving 4 months ago.

I looked at an old picture from years ago where my hair looked really thin. In pictures after that my hair looked thicker again.

Any thoughts? My hair is long, beyond my shoulders, but getting very thin. I think it might look worse cut short. My hair itself is fine but I normally have a lot of hair. What if it continues falling out? Like should I get a buzz cut or something? Hair extensions are not an option. It's too thin. A wig? Not.

I guess I will just hide under hats all winter. Also, my head actually feels colder!

I think maybe I went through this in the past (maybe after the stress of separation and divorce) but it always seems I try to forget about it as soon as possible. So I never remember how long it took to rebalance.

Did this ever happen to you?

How did you cope?

How long did it take for things to return to normal?

Yeah, it's happened. I actually joked cutting it off, putting on a fake mustache and having a look alike contest with my dad.
Mine comes and goes with weather and stress. Now it's getting colder and my hair's falling out less because I'm constantly de-stressing. I have hypothyroidism, so sometimes it's just a medication fix that I need.
I coped by humor when I started losing my hair during treatment two years ago. I called myself a bean because of always wearing beanies. Nobody made fun of me for any of it, but I made them laugh by making fun of it myself. In this case, my hair grew back fully within seven months after treatment was done. I didn't lose a lot, considering.
The other times, it comes and goes so often that I never really pay attention to the time spans.
Wish I had more to offer on this topic. Humor was really all I've ever had to deal with this sort of thing.

You are young, though, right? I thought I picked that up, but you sound very ancient and wise. Like your advice. I just bought two beanie type hats with sequins and mirrors and stuff on them. I have a hat collection, anyway, but darn I will just add to it. You have such an amazing attitude. Thanks. Oh, another thing I am trying to do is learn Spanish. But lazy. Darn. Darn.

Haha, yeah I'm in my early twenties. My attitude towards my physical appearance is pretty good because I had to learn to be. Kids at school couldn't make fun of me if I was already a step ahead of them
Get creative with them hats. Allowing yourself to be humorous with your style could help with your anxiety; at least it did with me.
Haha, I'm learning Gaelic, German, Spanish and Italian. So far, I've gotten nowhere.

I was under a lot of stress a few years ago (and on lithium) and lost a great deal of hair. It was close to butt length and had to cut it to shoulder and it was thin but could have been worse. I took vitamins religiously and monitored my protein intake and reduced stress and my hair came back mostly. The ends are very thin but I cut them once a year and eventually it should even out. I will probably buy wigs if I lose my hair. Hats are another option.

biotin and selenium can help. I was told to take centrum silver because it had the right amount of selenium in it.

Can't not to agree with you, even if this topic is old! Such thing happens really often in case of medications, I had the same problem as also some my friends... Fortunately hair can be restored in this case, usually after finishing taking the certain medications, the other situation will be if the hair loss is connected with genes
Usually such tips as here http://machohairstyles.com/best-tips...-bad-hairline/ for example are helpful, also using some natural oils like coconut and argan one
Rogaine, propecia and even green tea juice can be very effective too, I know one guy who had a very bad hair loss and he restored his hair so greatly with using it
Thanks for this!

I started taking Centrum Silver vitamins on the advice of one poster here. It has been several months since the original post. I am happy to report some improvement.

Thank you but if you read the thread you would see that this has been suggested already. (Centrum Silver vits)
