For me, life has been both horrible and amazing.
I try not to let the bad stuff hold me down and focus on the good things I have in my life (and make LOTS of plans for the future).
But sometimes, I look at the horrible things that go on in the world and think 'what am I doing here?'

For me life just 'is', there are moments of beauty/joy, there are times of sorrow and struggle. For me when I had depression it was more sorrow and struggle than anything. Most of the time it is a mixture.

Often I feel the most wonder and joy at the smallest things that surprise me - like a customer who is extra nice, or a kind stranger, or riding my bike on a sunny day with the wind in my hair. I suppose in moments like that the world does feel beautiful.

You write of not feeling proud at your graduation, from what you have written here there was a lot of pressure on you at that time, I am not surprised the edge was taken away from you. I wonder how much of your feelings are due to unfair pressures put upon you.

How do you feel when you ride your bike? Do you feel joy from that experience?

Without the horrible things though - would the good things seem as beautiful to you? To some extent I think there is beauty in both good and bad just because of that. Much like there is beauty in both the dark and light colors in a painting because it takes both to create the entire picture...

(i am not directing this comment solely at you, but your comment allowed me to explain what i was trying to say better - so thank you)

You and I seem to share similar ideas about the beauty of life ❤

That's what I was trying to portray earlier with the link to the song "Life Ain't Always Beautiful"

It has moments of great beauty. Words, music, sights, sounds, tastes, feelings. Many things. The joy with the pain.

I know we all have different experiences and views of life, and it is all subjective. My personal experiences have been ugly in life. Yes I am not poor, and healthy (at least I think so but I am not sure), but still life hasn't been beautiful to me. My mind rejects the reality and I feel I was put here in life, as in an arena where no matter how much effort I put and how hard I fight, I will lose eventually ... to the dark monster, death. Some people seem to accept this fact and fight their fights until they lose, others give up early, but there is no point in fighting in the first place other than postponing death.

I enjoy going out, and riding the bike is the best means for me because I will be doing something acceptable while alone, but this joy is short. But I don't see life as something beautiful just because I enjoy riding the bike. The majority of my day and days are awful.

The point though is how often do you consider the small things in your life vs those "major let downs"? If you consider the small things it could be there are enough of those to break up the time between the misery of the "major let downs"

For instance - I was having an awful day the other day. I went outside. Instead of looking straight out like usual, I looked up - to watch the tree tops swaying in the wind, notice each leaf blowing as they they did, watch the birds flitting from tree to tree, notice the shapes and movement of the clouds, concentrate on the sounds of the wind and the birds...I closed my eyes and felt the warmth of the sun, smelled the aroma of flowers and grass in the air. These little things aren't much it's true - but it was "enough" for that one day, and that's all I needed. The past is past. Future is not promised. With the present, yiu can change forever - always focus on that. That's what I did. A few minutes in nature won't always do the trick - but little things here and there - if you acknowledge them, can let you see the beauty and give you reason to make it through.

Every thing in life is beautiful, in its own right. some aspects of life are horrible. I'm sorry you're not finding any beauty around you right now.

I am not entirely sure what you mean when you write about losing to the dark monster (death)? Dying is inevitable to all of us but it isn't losing to die, it is part of the cycle of life. It is a very sad part of this life (to lose those we love) but it's natural and our atoms become part of the universe.

You are still relatively young, you have so many years ahead of you.
