I wake up every day thinking there are literally millions of wonderful people I haven't met yet. Life is beautiful because there is so much to experience and feel.

Note: I just came out of a severe depression and am medicated. I feel good right now but don't always feel this way. Ask me 4 months ago and I would have had a different answer!

Many things in life are beautiful and many are ugly, and life is the sometimes-beautiful and sometimes-ugly experience of trying to know the difference.

I think at one point in time I probably thought that life was (or could be beautiful), but things just haven't panned out for me. Many of the things that I hoped to be able to do someday, just aren't going to happen. Maybe if my daughter starts to pull out of her depression and I can get to a point where I am not constantly worried about her I can get back to where I can look forward to things, I'm not sure I can get there though. Of course, the chances that my daughter will get to the point where I don't worry, are looking worse all the time. Over a year in an active, deep clinical depression, and still looking for the right combo of meds that will work for her.

right now yes I think life is beautiful. I don't always feel that way. definitely not when I'm depressed.
i try to start off small. be still and look and listen. I find gratitude and beauty in small things.

life isn't beautiful

granted, it has beautiful things in it (a sunrise, the moon and the stars, animals), but ultimately it's all just a struggle

Thank you for that. My main reason for living right now is to see her healthy and happy. She's the most important person in my life and to see her struggle is the most painful thing I've ever experienced.

I think life can be beautiful sometimes but not always.
It is people that mess it all up.

I feel that ugliness extends beyond people, but I also feel that people are the cause of the ugliest things that happen.

Overall, I like that I'm alive, but life is an almost constant struggle for me and sometimes I would rather be dead.

Ever hear the song "Life Ain't Always Beautiful"?

Part of the chorus in it is:

No, life ain't always beautiful
But it's a beautiful ride

That pretty much sums it up I think. I think most of us regardless of everything .. have seen some happiness in life or accomplished something we are proud of and felt that sense of pride if only for fleeting moments .. then we go on to our next journey or goal. There are both good points and bad points in life - when you go through the bad, you can look toward the next good to get you through...and as you go through the good, you drink up every drop of beauty and enjoyment within it so you can always remember it.

This is the song if ya wanna hear (video is kinda cool too)

But how much good and how much bad is there in life? Can you say it is 50-50, for example? Happiness is a glimpse in the darkness of life in my view. As you described it, it is a fleeting moment. The majority of time, I see, life is suffering and struggle. Do the moments of happiness make it beautiful? I don't know, because I haven't experienced happiness. Most of my days are bad, otherwise there are flat; neither good nor bad. I kid you not. I don't remember one happy day in my life, including my graduation days. I didn't feel proud of myself. I've felt everything was an obligation for me in this life imposed on me by others and society by large.

I think nobody has "a lot" of happy or proud moments - but I think those moments are meant to push us forward and keep us striving. It's like a roller coaster ride - when you go uphill, it's long and terrifying because you know the drop on the other end - but then you go downhill and its a short lived exhilerating rush of emotions, then you are back to going uphill again... So yes, the happy moments are shorter lived, but those are the ones that push us on ..

I don't think my life is beautiful compared with my fellow, lucky peers. But compared to those who live in harder situation, my life is indeed so beautiful.

It just my opinion. Rather than try finding beautiful thing, find happiness instead.
1. There is beautiful girl, the prettiest woman that you ever met. But she has bad attitude, is that make you happy?
2. There is a handicapped, 2 legged dogs. He's loyal to you and loves you so badly. is that make you happy?

Things that make you happy will be looked beautiful instead. Try to find from the smallest thing, such as eating you favorite food or watching your favorite TV shows.

I think MY life is beautiful. I can't speak for anyone else, and I don't think it is really a philosophical question but an experiential one.

For me, the life experience is a beautiful one. That doesn't mean it is all sunshine and rainbows; it certainly hasn't been for me. But I am thankful for my life and the experiences I have had -- the good and the bad. Those experiences have led me to who am I, and I kind of like myself (not something I have always been able to say).

Would I have always answered this question affirmatively? Probably not, but I am fortunate to have moved into a period of my life where I seem to have finally come into myself. I'm pretty content. I can look back on the history of my life and be grateful to be where I am now. I am ready to face what lies ahead, and I know I have some very, very tough roads ahead of me. I'm okay with that; that is the experience and I will make it through.

Seeing my friend's (who has no income and next to no support) newborn in the carseat I had purchased for my daughter--who was stillborn--and knowing that as painful and heartbreaking as that nightmare was, some good had come out of it...was absolutely beautiful.

Yes, life is beautiful. So is pain and sorrow, because to be able to feel those things lets us know we are alive. Even if in the moment it's happening we don't realize it. The way we suffer hours of torment for that one moment of joy and somehow it all adds up in the end. Rainy days, to me are beautiful and refreshing.

I'm thankful that I'm able to feel and that I know what I know. I pay a price for this. Heck, it's made me an outcast but it becomes worth it. As much as I hurt over what happened with my baby, I would do it all again just to feel her growing inside of me, kicking me. Those little moments of peace and joy, they are the meaning of life.

I am not aware of anything in Scripture suggesting each new day is a gift from anyone, so I listen more to things like this from Solomon...

Quote:
Despite the inequities of life, Solomon argues that life is better than death. In Ecclesiastes 9:4-6 he explains:

“For whoever is joined with all the living, there is hope; surely a live dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten. Indeed their love, their hate and their zeal have already perished, and they will no longer have a share in all that is done under the sun.”

In Solomon’s day, dogs were diseased mongrels that ran in packs through city streets, not pampered pets. People feared and loathed them. Nevertheless, Solomon says that a live dog is better than a dead lion. Why? Because the living...may yet reckon with the reality of death and in so doing embrace the joy life has to offer...
