I live in Texas, and I've been pondering testing psilocybin mushrooms for depression. I have read that these mushrooms are somewhat legal in New Mexico. Could I visit New Mexico and test these mushrooms on myself without breaking the law? I have seen a bed and breakfast in Jamaica that offers these mushrooms as part of the package. I assume it is legal in Jamaica.
I'm just feeling a little hopeless lately. I don't enjoy drugs, but it would be worth feeling sick and paranoid and so forth for a few hours if it gave me a few months free of depression. |

I have read that hallucinogenics can be helpful for people with depression. However I am not sure of the legality in New Mexico.
Sometimes you can be enrolled in a study where they test things like that. For example, ketamine was studied for a while before becoming available thru a doctor and probably at some point insurance companies will start paying for it. Participating in a study would be legal. |

in new mexico it is legal to........grow..... Psilocybin mushroom for personal use. but is still illegal for selling and possessing without a medical card that gives you permission to grow them and have them for personal use... in otherwords.... yes you could go to new mexico (anyone in the USA can travel from one state to another with no problems) but you would be committing a crime of buying them from someone in new mexico (possession and consumption of an illegal drug with out a permit to do so) the person you obtain the Psilocybin mushrooms from would also run the risk of arrest for dealing (growing and selling Psilocybin mushroom ) my suggestion would be to check what the laws are on this where you are, then talk with your treatment providers, (even though growing, possessing and using if you get the permit card to use because of a mental or physical health problems you can go through a legal dispensary buy your own plant to begin growing your own for personal consumption.) please be safe about this and understand that the president has recently signed legislation that makes it possible for the federal drug enforcement to enter states that have legalized marijuana and any other drugs that the federal government has not legalized and enforce federal laws. which means even if a state has legalized them a person can still get arrested and prosecuted for possession, buying or growing their own as of 1-3 weeks ago. States legalizing no longer protects, many states are upset about this turn of events and are scrambling to find ways to protect their dispensaries, growing farms and so on that the states say is legal and now the federal government can swoop in and ignore the states saying its legal and enforce the federal saying its illegal. (in other words the present US president has just over turned the past presidents law on this issue) So please think carefully though its state legal its not federally legal, crossing state lines to use what the federal government says is illegal has serious consequences. |

Originally I thought ketamine could only be administered in-patient, because it was through an IV. I wonder if it is now in pill form for out-patient use? |

Then you shouldnt take mushrooms for medical reasons, too. If you have no experience whatsoever and dont even like psychedlics chances are high it will do more harm than anything else.
