I agree and yeah same. I did get s little better than I was as a kid, just like you were. Back then, I could' even fall asleep without the light being on or someone being in my room. Even if someone was in my room, I still needed the light on. It was extreme fear. Now, I can sleep in my room alone and with the light off, although I usualy have the TV on though. I just mainly still deal with the fear of sleeping when no one else is in the house.

I prefer to sleep alone.
I have insomnia and I wake up all the time. Or else get up to go to the bathroom. I toss and turn. All kinds of annoying things. I am a light sleeper.

Oh well I’m glad your machine helps. I need to get a machine myself.

I have the opposite. Fear of sleeping next to someone or anywhere where people can look at me, etc. Black out curtains. I am afraid people can see in.

Yeah I can understand that. I don't like the thought of someone looking in while I'm sleeping either.

I’ve been hallucinating people walking around my room at night. Caused either by one of my meds, or a possible sleep disorder.

Lately I’ve just been getting in bed with my mom when I️t happens. I️ feel really guilty when I️ do I️t.

I️ turn 25 on the 4th Of Feb. I’m way too old to do that.

But the images I️ see are very disturbing and terrifying. Whenever I️ see my doctor and therapist again, I’m going to mention I️t to them. Maybe I️ will get some actual answers/help.
Thanks for this!

I have the same problem, although it used to be way worse as a kid. I would see someone just standing in my room while waking up from a bad dream. It doesn’t happen very often now. Now most of my hallucinations are auditorial. Do you have sleep apnea or even narcolepsy? They can cause hallucinations. I’m sure other sleep disorders can too, and yeah meds may also play a part in it.

Yeah I have lots of bad dreams too, although they were way more frequent as a kid.

Im thinking it’s possibly REM sleep behavior disorder. I would like to be tested for sleep apnea though. I used to think I️ was developing Narcolepsy, but I️ found out I️t was my meds. Once I️ switched them around I’ve been fine. I️ called my therapist today. I️ told her about getting into bed with my mom. My old therapist would have totally filipped out on me. But she was understanding and said “if I️t makes you feel better go ahead.”
Thanks for this!

Oh okay yeah that makes sense too. And I’m glad you got a therapist that understands better.

I’ve had this problem on and off. If I think too much about it, it will set off an anxiety spiral.

I sleep in the recliner (was for my late husband due to heart surgery) or the massage chair (I bought while manic—I would never otherwise buy this) most nights. My therapist thinks that is OK because I am doing something to comfort myself.

I’ve put rods and a cross bar on the sliding glass door.

I’ve thought about an alarm system—I might do that.

Sometimes I get paranoid and set up a talk radio by the door so it sounds like someone is watching tv. I have a device that looks like the flashing of a television.
Thanks for this!

Using a talk radio and a device that mimics a TV flickering is a good idea. An alarm system would also help and there is nothing wrong woth sleeping in a recliner or another chair that is comfortable.
