Does anyone journal? If so, what do you journal about? What are some of the benefts you have been getting from journaling? I am thinking of starting a journal but unsure what I would journal about.

i journal a lot, every day, several times a day...my journal consists of anything and everything that goes on around me, my moods, my feelings, what i'm thinking at the time, what is going on outside my window, what is happening in the house...anything that is important to you...you may want to just start writing and without editing just write whatever is on your mind...you have nothing to fear, no one is going to read it but you, and you can look back a month, or 6, or a year later and see how far you have come...what your thoughts were back then, and how you feel now...it can be a great therapy time for you...
i hope this helps... Jewels ![]() ![]() ![]()

I journal and I find it helpful. I write an entry every morning and every evening. For me it's more of a mood tracker. I write about my mood and about my anxiety levels and note anything that might have been a trigger. I find it useful to look back over previous entries and recognize patterns etc.
Good luck to you!

My journal is full of positive things i have written down: compliments people have given me, quotations, insights. When I feel down, or in a negative mood...I get it out and read it over for an instant lift.

Everything. It's my way of thinking. I can think things through on paper and often I find things I didn't know I was thinking at all.

I started with "Morning Pages": http://www.highlysensitivesouls.com/...rningpages.htm
Getting in the habit of writing, even when I didn't feel like it, eventually I got good benefits, thoughts and ideas that were helpful to me.

NO. Tried once, my mom found it immediately. I would never expose myself like that again.

I sort of journal. For me, it's a kind a conversation between me and T. I usually start writing as soon as I get triggered, as a way to let off steam. The trigger is the start of my journalling, and before long, I find I've written pages and my mind has run off on some completely different tangent. I find myself exploring all my thoughts and feelings, and I actually begin to write the answers to my own questions.
I don't journal at set times, but it may help you - I'm not very good with discipline ![]()

I've journaled for years now, I started when I was 9. Of course back then it was more about trivial things such as what happened on the play ground, but I realize now it was good for me even then. Right now I keep a journal (I recently just bought a new one from the book store) and while I won't be writing in it everyday, I'll be sure to keep it with me so the next time I get triggered or something amazing happens I can write exactly how I feel. But it all depends on the person. At one point a few months ago I felt it was necessary to write an entry everyday, sometimes numerous, but my mood has lifted quite a bit since then so I don't need to.
It's about finding a good pace, I think. Also I find a real journal, one that you can carry around with you and write in with pencil or pen is a lot more therapeutic than one on the computer. A computer template might be good to get yourself going, but a book to me, feels way more personal. I found after writing journals on the computer I always still felt the same like I hadn't said a thing at all, even after writing paragraph after paragraph.. But after seeing the words in my own handwriting in a book I can hold, I notice I only need to write maybe half a page before I feel completely alleviated. |
