This is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves! I used to work in DC, and the people on subways are even worse -- you have to really fight for your right to exit the subway; arrrggh!

Whenever my kids are with me and we take an elevator, I always remind them to step back respectfully and let the people inside get OFF first. I hope this rule sticks with them as they get older.

This is mostly guys but people who blow their noses without tissues or anythng in public. They just hold one side shut blow real hard and blow it on the ground then do the other side the same way. Absolutely gross and unsanitary!!!

I hate it when people don't pick up after their dogs. The trail where I take mine looks like a doggie toilet. I feel sorry for the people who live along the trail. And there's signs EVERYwhere that it's the law to pick up after your dog. Yes, they removed all the trashcans due to budget cuts. So what, carrying the baggy is not going to kill anyone. Ugh.

And I really really really hate inconsiderate drivers. There's so many things they do that tick me off. But I think tailgating is one of the worst. And speeding. it's dangerous and totally pointless. Speeding saves you maybe, MAYBE, 5 minutes. Big whoop. And for that you (not you guys, you the speeders) risk other peoples lives. Drives me mad. Same as drunk drivers.

Yes doggy messes really irk me. The worst is when last summer, someone let their dog pooh on our sidewalk twice in one week. I got my daughters sidewalk chalk and said "if your dog did this please pick it up". It was a big dog too grrrrrrrr.

I agree with darkpurplesecrets about people stealing parking spaces. I could be there first with my signal on and everything...then someone thinks they can slide in. I went to a childrens festival when I was pregnant with the 2nd child and I parked the car and this mother got all mad at me for taking the spot but I was there 1st. I was also 8 months pregnant and she could see that after I got out of my car but she continued to argue.

I don't know if this classes as something someone does in public but I hate it when a stranger touches me or grabs my arm. I just totally and completely feel invaded. Even at the grocery store - I smile at people and greet them but certainly don't touch them.

When pedestrians think it's their god given right to walk wherever they please, right out in front of you and then give you a dirty look or yell at you because you nearly missed them, and they are the one that just stepped out in the middle of the street.. and yes i am aware of my surroundings but i'm not aware of ninja master over there sprinting right in front of me out of no where...

And Parents know where your kids are at ...at least hold their hand...one minute they are by your side...the next they are playing with my bumper as i am backing out of a parking space

(and yes i am both a parent and a pedestrian i tend to walk more than drive, and i am most considerate of drivers, because pedestrians DO NOT always have the right of way!)

I have two big bug bears about things people do in public, first is smoking, i do not smoke, have trouble breathing so why should i be subjected to passive smoking as i pass a pub or wait at the crossing! it also is dangerous when smokers dangle lit cigarrettes by their side or facing backwards as passing children can get burns and don't even get me started on those who throw lit ends to the ground and don't stamp them out... think toddler falling over and hands going down onto these!!!!
my second is people with earphones from mobiles or music in their ears as they walk along, the ammount of times i have said excuse me so i can pass on my mobility scooter and get ignored because of headphones is aaaaaggggghhhhh!
ok so i am begining to sound like Victor Meldrew from one foot in the grave, but i really hate inconsiderate drivers who block dropped curbs when they park, do they think mobility scooters come with a remote button to lower the curb behind the parked cars!!! litterers, swearers, those who do not clear up after their dog and loud conversations also bug me!
why can't people respect the area they are in is beyond me!
Thanks for this!

Those who decide to ride their bicycles at night in the streets & are wearing all black or dark colors. I've lot count of how many times that I nearly hit them or caused a wreck trying to avoid them

No one mentioned double dipping....I will not eat something that someone else has infected with their saliva.

When I was a little girl; the one time that I recall my Swedish mother being physical with me was when she slapped the spoon she was using to stir the pot Outta my mouth!!!!!
"Do you know that the dirtiest part of your body is your mouth?" She yelled.
"And I'd be putting that spoon-with your germs back into the pot so everyone can have get some of your germs from MY MEAL!!!!!"

I have very strong feelings about this one. She taught me well.---ick, ick ick

I agree with the last 2 posts by hentaywee and Theodora. I see people all the time riding and walking without reflectors or lights. It's scary driving when there's not enough room and you can barely see them. Yes double dipping is annoying for sure.

racee and yellowted: I think it's funny how people over here in the US just walk out into the street, especially in parking lots. Back home in Germany cars don't watch for pedestrians, you act like that there, you get flattened in no time. Also, about blocking the sidewalk (which totally ticks me off when I'm walking with my dog while pushing the stroller with my toddler), back home it's the law that you have to leave enough room for a wheelchair to fit through. You don't leave enough room you get towed. And they don't mess around with that either. I guess some things really are better back home.

Agreed. Just saw this happen today, and they didn't discard the toothpick afterwards.
