My Mom is cancer FREE!! The doctors have confirmed that they successfully removed all the cancer from her lung and that she will not require further treatment. She should be in hospital for about another week then she gets to go home and piece her life back together again.
I am so relieved I can't express it.

Thank you to everyone who has been following this journey with me.

Wow that's really great news and for some reason I had a good feeling about your mom from beginning. Many people hear the word "mass" and assume its cancer - sometimes its a benign (not spreading) tumor. Naturally if the non threatening tumors in lung or brain, it just has to be removed. The nerve wracking part is waiting for the treatment and laboratory results. You did very well (((Sabrina)))) and I hope this will encourage you mom to appreciate everyday.

Very Happy for you both! I'm also glad no further treatment was required so that did not become an issue between you! I'm not ready to let go of my Mom yet either. She's getting a little dotty and I'm just starting to enjoy her for a change.
Thanks for this!

Mom is doing well. One of the drainage tubes has been removed but the other one is still bubbling. Once that bubbling stops, Mom can come home. Frustrating but we must be patient. She is so bored now. Understandable!

My Mom is struggling tonight. She got quite choked up and is frustrated. Her remaining drainage tube is leaking and she has been sent for further X-rays. She is terrified of the possibility of further surgery. I feel so bad for her and don't know how to cheer her up right now.

I hope the doctor is explaining things to your mom and you. My thoughts are with you both.

Mom was a in a bit of a better mood tonight. She has a new drainage system fitted and is still frothing. She seems complacent despite her frustration that she will not be out in at least the next week. I am taking strain only because I can't get her pajamas washed and dried quick enough. I don't have a dryer and every time I hang washed pajamas on the line it pours with rain. I need a drink!

Sabrina, I can't find word to say how sad it makes me--both for you and your mom--that this whole thing couldn't have been the ascending-experience it looked like it was going to be in the beginning. All these twists and sets-backs, so discouraging & exhausting.
Love and gentle hugs, dear friend. Night or day look across "our" ocean & know I'm thinking of the two of you.

Mom tense tonight. She says something is wrong and sore probably due to the fact that she is now going to the loo, and lots. They gave her something for that.

When she wanted pain meds today they told her they were out of stock. I had to bring from home. She is complaining tomorrow to patient liaison officer. This IS a good hospital so I'm surprised about this.

Doctor said Mom could come home next week. Hold thumbs.
