I always get more "hopeful" that things will be different or better in some way during the season and am usually disappointed, more bored and let down than I'd like.

I get called scrooge relatively often. I think the dislike of the holidays started when I worked several seasons of retail hell, I mean holidays. But it hasn't got better since then. I don't decorate much, only had a tree last year, the first in probably 10 years. I'm not particularly close to my family, distance or connection-wise, I just keep to myself even if I am around them. I don't really expect any year to be better than any other; to me it's just a cold month with lots of forced socializing. Boy I am a scrooge anti xmas

I'm not anti xmas because I think if people like the holidays it's all well and good ...

I just dislike x-mas with the family.

I try to make the best of what I'm presented with. I know that at least I'll see my oldest boy and his family. Not quite enough. It makes the absence of the others a bit harder to take, but I try to put that out of my mind and concentrate on the now.

Teehee and I thought I was the only one who knew the "Fun" in dysfunctional joke.

Hmmm... so if Petunia is bringing drunks, I suppose I can bring ... changing my guest list here, but I'm bringing insensitive, bossy, demanding and self-centred people.

Which may include-- but not limited to : "What! you have ANOTHER job isn't this the third one this year, haven't you 'found' yourself YET?", and--- "Looks like someone hasn't vacuumed under the couch in ages" also--- "Oh I had a dining set like that, we got rid of it and got something much nicer"....

What the hey! Do we have a pied pipper in the group? We'll just leave most of the adults stuck in their crap and get all nine grandkids over here! anti xmas

i must confess i bought a string of xmas lights this year, not for decorating the room but to light my vivarium at night so i can watch my snakes at play, they are the right wattage and not to bright, the snakes like them, to them they are another heat scource and built in climbing frame,

i have finished buying the only 2 presents i am giving out this year, i have bought my son a mint full collectors set of wade natwest piggy banks, ( 5 in total) cost me a fortune but i like them and they can only go up in value, and my halfsisters daughter has got a book by the bronte sisters, thats about has far has i can extend xmas this year

I think what makes people hate the holidays (Christmas) so much now days is that Christ has been taken out of Christmas. people have forgotten the true meaning of it and has gone too commercial. so let's also put the Christ back in CHRISTmas. anti xmas

Can I bring my MIL and drop her off. That way, I would have a decent Christmas if she wasn't around. Not being mean, you have to know my MIL. She will start telling you what to do as soon as she walks in the door and doesn't stop until you see her walking out the door. Nothing is never good enough for her.

I wouldn't consider myself anti-christmas. In fact, if my mind was together, I would love the holidays. But, since we are naming people who ruin the holidays, I would definitely bring my grandma! It doesn't even have to be the holidays, if she shows up, there's bound to be some sort of war!
