Why did you pick your avatar?

Greetings. I'm just curious as to what you guys selected for your avatars/usernames and why? Is there a backstory or a specific meaning to your combination of avatar selection and username? If so, what would it be?

My avatar picture is of Ruvik from The Evil Within game. It's basically a survival horror shooter game where you're trapped in a subconscious interlinked world that is generated by the thoughts and memories of each person inside. Ruvik is the main bad guy who was one of the first developers of the project and has a degree of control over the world which he uses to make monsters to send after you and to randomly change the environment and appear and disappear to make your life difficult while being immune to conventional gunfire so he's basically God of his world. He might seem like a typical evil villain but he has a deep backstory which I identify with.

Basically as a kid he had high intelligence which made it hard for him to identify with other kids or make friends and his parents were neglectful and abusive of him and his sister was the only person who loved and understood him. Well she died and he became disfigured from a fire (hints the scaring on his head and chest) which caused further abuse from his parents because of his appearance and the only other person he had left who understood him was a scientist who mentored him which caused him to want to make the world you're trapped in originally as an attempt to bring his sister back to life which of course failed and caused him to go crazy.

I identify with his character and backstory because I had high intelligence as a child too so I know what it's like to have trouble making friends along with abusive family and nobody to understand you and I see it as symbolic as I often struggle with my inner darkness and I have to work to try to contain said inner darkness so that I can be a decent person.

I also would give anything to have a world of my own where I can be free to do whatever I want and be free of the emotional pain that plagues me daily while having absolute control over my future and destiny and having superpowers that make me special and unique rather than a mere human.

Plus he looks so badass haha

My username signifies my fear of letting people close to me and my difficulties trusting others which makes the darkness my friend metaphorically speaking. I hide in the shadows letting very few people see the real me. I frequently show others only what they would want to see about me and I often isolate myself or push others out of my life.

I have a leopard. It's a photo I took at the National Zoo, in DC.

My username, gosh I've had this since 2007. Was an active member in another mh related forum. Was a 'mommy3boys.' I was, at the time, addressing the confusion and struggles that I had in my marriage. Codep came up, and as I was trying so very hard to get a handle on boundaries and communication skills and researching mental health and conversing in the forum, reading and contributing and asking many questions. I realized something. For one, felt their coolness towards me at first, with the amount of family of origin chatter, might have been related. So I thought on it. Does motherhood truly define Me? Or is it a part of me, not the whole of me? Then, what exactly was I doing? Taking the focus off my then husband's behavior and looking at my reactions. If in a stage of recovery? What's happening? Healing. Am I to work on myself,(?) For someone? Or am I worth it, and doing it for myself.
I don't recall why I went with the lower case h, but I did. Thought 4, fit, at the time 3 sons and a husband, was better to express for, anyways.
That is how I came to use, healingme4me.

My username is an old real world nickname because I like hot weather. The avatar is, well it's a lizard! Kind of self explanatory, huh?

Because I love cats and because of a character in Hopscotch by Julio Cortázar (I like how it sounds).

I used to do a lot of Railroad photography when I was able to get out and not be a slave to my bed for 24 hours a day now. Anyway, the photo is one I took.

I love my cats so it was a no brainer he also knows when I do not feel good and will sit by me and sometimes he will put his paw on me to let me know he is there.

My user name. I was on the PTA board and used to do a lot of baking for fundraisers.
A kindergardener came up to me to tell me how much he loved my cupcakes but he could not say my last name so he said Cakeladie. So from there on out all the kids called me Cakeladie

raindrop was my first kitty. I still cry if I think about her and it's been flipping 25 years she's been gone. Vampire, well how cool would an actual raindrop vampire be?? Picture something just waiting for it to rain so it could suck up some sustenance. Plus hubby is WAYYYYY into vampires.

The avatar I chose because it spoke to me. It seems very sad and as a person who spends 99% of their time depressed and who cries at least once a day it was apropos.

My username and avatar are actually unrelated. My username is taken from the way they nickname the suits used by the actors in the Godzilla movies. For example, in Godzilla versus Mothra it was mosuragoji; mosura for Mothra and goji for godzilla. Since I was going to use it as an Internet name I went with Web (for the world wide web) and goji for Godzilla and thus, Webgoji.


The avatar has quite a few meanings actually. I'll be trying for the rest of my life to control my mind and right now it's like a thousand shrieking monkeys; my monkey mind. Tied in with my signature, about not having the wisdom, but trying anyway by flinging poo (my lame attempts at wisdom) and you've got a little meditating monkey.

My user name is my first & middle names. My avatar is a photo of a handcrafted Italian voodoo doll I own.

I picked my last avatar because I like eagles.

I saw the cat chasing the butterfly and it seemed to encapsulate my striving for something just that far beyond my reach - it also makes me smile.

My name comes from an 80s pop group I like.

I picked my username because I felt it was an important name, though I didn't quite understand why at the time. I was 14 or so at the time and I have been using the same username on almost every website when creating an account I added the 25 because when I registered I was 25. Come to find out I am a Furry and I always felt like I was close to cats. It's actually my Fursona's name which is a Siamese Mix. And the Avatar pic is my favorite picture of myself that I got professionally done when I graduated High School in 2006 at the age of 17.

I find great peace there and its one of my favorite places in the world.

My avatar is closer to me than the name.

The web reminds me of a Pima tribe creation myth. There was an earth dr, one day he started dancing and waving his arms to create the sky. He danced so long the earth was spreading out. So he created a spider to weave the earth back together.

I like creation stories. My name should be one of the early creation goddess. But at the time I just wanted people know that I was shy about reveling to much and would sidestepp issues that made me anxious or afraid of reactions. I've found this to be a very safe place and should change my name to be more representative of my interest in creation stories---- that or a sci fi name.

My name is something I used to call myself over 10 years ago when I was in the hospital..."crazy" is self-explanatory, and "Lo" is short for Lauren (my name).

My avatar is a cherry blossom tree because I am obsessed with cherry blossoms! So PURTY!!!

But this time I chose a picture of Mia Wasikowska in Crimson Peak as my avatar because frankly, I'm excited for the movie.
