Oh no! I couldn't eat them, I don't have any other pets, these chickies are my friends. They roam around the garden and sit with me or even on me, lol!

I've never known anyone who had pet chickens, but I do think they're pretty, and so many varieties! Some are really quite exotic!
I would buy eggs from you if you were nearby! Love free-range eggs much better than the store eggs! I also think you should write a short story about your hen pets! Maybe a children's story! Love Patty |

Well! After two days of being missing our lost hen is back! Someone in the village had found her and apparantly she has been having a wonderful time with a cockerel! Ha ha! The children are beaming with joy and now we have 6 hens! (maybe more to come???)

So good to have our chickies back, the three original hens were sitting together on the door mat in the kitchen having a cuddle.

i'm so glad that one came back. i do hope that you find the second one. i love my hens. it really calms me to sit with them and talk and listen to them talk..don't you love all of their little murmurings?

Indeed the two lost hens did come back so I have six now and yeah I've had many a long and interesting conversation with them too.

Well, I think one my hens is a cockerel!  ..........I noticed the other day that it was jumping on the hen's backs and pecking them, thought that was a bit odd!This morning hubby saw it trying to cockadoodle-doo! So I googled it and yep! I'm pretty certain now! Dear Oh! Dear! Oh Dear!

Pegasus...This is such a great story! I have a visual of the three hens cuddling and talking about their adventures! Cockerel...is that what we here in West Virginia call a rooster? You could have chicks!

I'm curious...are these certain breeds of hens/rooster, or do you have a variety? I think they're such interesting and pretty creatures, and wish I could have some, but my dog would kill them, and, besides, can't have them here in town.

Hello Patty, The hens are all different varieties. Buff Orpington- she has a big bottom. Light sussex- a white hen. A Gold laced something.... and a warren X which is laying eggs already. The rooster is a Rhode Island Red and he was doing his thing with two hens right in the middle of the lawn!  pegs.

Hee! Hee!..........My hens don't need to run away now that one of them happens to be a Rooster! I love them all, I'll try and sort out a photo, might be difficult to get them all to stand in line and smile..... Pegs.

we are thinking about getting some chickens for our place. I am thinking maybe 4 hens and a rooster? I love to watch the baby chicks running around the yard.

The Rooster did cockadoodledoo today when a pheasant came in the garden, I guess he was scaring it off from his girls. I will try and get hubby to take a pic of them tomorrow.
