Well it is more a discomfort really. I am bothered when I get friend requests on FB from complete strangers. Worse still is when there is no connection to current friends. Delete, delete, delete.

people that know you are struggling and having a bad time of things, but still ask (in a happy, cheery, care free) way,
so.... how's it going? it's almost like they don't even listen |

I have great difficulty with people not meeting my expectations in the workplace. My therapist has suggested I lower my standards but I think they are already so low that to do so would be the epitome of ridiculousness and just not caring. My standards seem to me to be common sense.
Is it unreasonable of me to expect a coworker to have a work ethic? Is it unreasonable to expect them to arrive on time? To care about their performance? To pull their weight? How on earth could I possibly drop my standards beneath what already seems the bare minimum? |

On the topic of work, as a manager, I was frequently unimpressed and irked by ridiculous behaviour and expectations of people applying for and interviewing for a position. Applicants would come completely unprepared. Some would come inappropriately dressed (like who shows up for an interview in beachwear?). The coup d'etat? When young adults would show up and bring mommy and daddy into the interview. What on earth????? Really? Then there would be those, who on applying for a job, already expect and dictate their hours of work and days off. What the? Use common sense please.

This one may irk others.
I can’t stand the ubiquitous ‘baseball caps’ that have become an accessory for every man, woman and child worldwide. I don’t know when hats went out of style (some credit JFK with his fabulous locks — but even he wore a proper hat to his inauguration!) or when baseball caps became the rage. I’m irked when (non-baseball-players) wear the caps on television interviews. I’m okay with vets wearing them and young men playing little-league baseball — but grown men is suits or wearing blazers? Ugh. Some people see my hat-wearing as an affectation, like bow ties. Maybe so.

Being bored. It doesn't make me tired, it pisses me off.

Agreed. Sometimes I attribute my boredom to my manic state which requires constant stimulation.

A guy at work was talking about how people wear name brand clothes to make themselves feel better and that they don’t actually like the clothes that they are just trying to fit in. He said he doesn’t participate in any of that stuff.
But he was wearing Vans and I’ve seen him wearing a North Face jacket. It just seems kind of hypocritical and I can not stand hypocrites.

Plus some brand names and expensive clothes are actually made to last. Most of my Levi’s I’ve had since May 2017 and they have held up really well despite the fact my job is very active.
But yeah I don’t get Gucci, Michael Kors or Prada because all your doing is advertising you have money. It seems dumb and kind of dangerous.

Never mind that they're free advertising for whoever's logo is plastered over them (even if they were freebies).. It's the damn insistence on wearing them spɹɐʍʞɔɐq that irks me! ![]() |

It irks me when I go out of my way to help someone, because they asked, and then they ream me out because the help I can provide is insufficient for their needs. And, mind you, I'm doing them a favor.
It irks me when people call my phone late at night, who aren't friends or family. It irks me when someone sends me a work email after 6pm my time and seems to expect that I will see it and respond to it before I come back to my desk at 8am the next morning. It irks me when people want things but they are entirely unclear in their requests. It irks me when my puppy stands on the potty pad but misses. !!!! Lol. Seesaw

People who complain about the above! ;p
BTW, a lot of these irks seem comprehensible to me - I mean, they're things you probably should get hot under the collar about, whereas the thread was likely more aimed at stuff that makes you ![]() ![]() |
