I was a student nurse for a few months in a London hospital. I liked it in some ways (the idea of helping people) (and the other student nurses in my group seemed nice) but wasn't practical and the first ward I was on... was distressing or perhaps triggering to me.. even then. I was still a ''cub''
This is one of my ''deep dark'' secrets
The ''boss nurse'' was angry when I told her I wanted to leave.
The ''therapist'' dismissed me, insulted me and snarled at me when I briefly described a small part of this

About 20 years or so ago, I tried temp jobs. One temp job was to be a valet parker. I explained to the other valet parkers that I didn't know how to drive a manual car. My first and only valet parking job happened to be during the grand opening of some famous restaurant in Southern California. Of all days, the media and movie stars visited. I accidentally peeled out in a movie star's sports car. I quit/got fired at the end of the day (I was expecting that ). I was the only woman on the job, too. It was a nightmare! I laugh now, but back then, I couldn't believe all the movie stars and how embarrassed I felt. Everyone looked frightened when I peeled out, but I was able to park it in the parking lot across the street without any accidents or dents. I was young, so I couldn't help but laugh at myself and tell my friends at the time what happened. We all had a good time laughing. It was the best job I ever got fired from in my life, and it was the worst job ever. To this day, I don't know how to drive a manual, and I don't think I ever want to. Driving is not my thing.

Updated/edited: Replaced actual name with "move star." :P

I didn’t like my grocery store job because of the customers. I didn’t like my last job because of my boss and all the “projects” she made us to do and the inconsistency’s in the schedule. I’d be off for 3 days according to the schedule and then she’d text me and ask me to come in those 3 days. Or she’d demand I drop everything and immediately come into work. And when I said I couldn’t she’d get upset at me. I actually think she was a bit mentally unstable. My current job was rough when I first started but I stuck it out and things are fine now.

There was hardly a job I didn’t dislike and leave.

I resigned a district general hospital because the hours were beyond punishing, and executive manager was just downright unprofessional. I was an A&E doctor, what is known in Americal as ER. Worst job. Ever.

I've done well with most jobs, no significant problems. The one job I left (ghosted, actually) was when I was 17 years old. I was hired as a temp at the holidays as a salesperson/cashier at Macy's. Initially, I was quite excited to be a high school girl and be hired at a "fancy" store (as it was back then).

I was assigned to "linens." Now what 17 years old wants to work with a group of crabby old ladies in towels and sheets? Not many, I dare say!

I did make it through November and December, hoping I would be let go once the New Year approached. Alas, it was not to be. Personnel was happy with my job performance and hired me as a permanent salesperson. This time, I was assigned to women's clothing. On top of my job dissatisfaction I was battling what I now realize was a bout of depression.

I struggled through January, February crept by at a snail's pace. Then came March with lovelier weather and that was it for me. During the first week of March I called in sick and simply never went back. What a relief!

So, that's the story of my 4 month relationship with Macy's.

I was a dishwasher my senior year of high school. It was at an Italian restaurant, a very busy one. Some of the most popular dishes were the baked ones. Eggplant parmesan. Various types of lasagna. My job was to get those pots and pans and baking dishes spotless and free of all their totally crusted-on, covalently bonded, cement-like Italian food carcasses. It was brutal. So hard.

The upside was, we had a great manager who liked us and, after close, he would usually bring us back an expensive imported beer to sip while we worked. Totally illegal. But a nice gesture. Ironically enough, the other dishwasher, whom I'd not previously met, was heading off to the same New York City university I was. we had a great time talking about interesting things like philosophy and art history and who the cutest girl in our class was. We did well together.

Everything about this job was great, except the actual work. That was horrid. But I stuck it out until I left for New York. It gave me some extra money to spend on my girlfriend.

My career path always got redirected according to my abusers will.I wanted to become a physician. THAT did not happen.I became a teacher and had a very fulfilling job.My boss was good to me and I enjoyed my job.A jealous coworker created some trouble for me after I got a promotion. But a lot of other colleagues were good to me.The circumstances at home forced me to resign. Then I took care of my friend's twins.I became a babysitter.I enjoyed it and took good care of the babies. They started calling me mom and refused to go with their father, when he came to pick them up in the evening. They ran and tried to hide under the bed.My friend said she was so happy that I was being their mom( raising them with love and affection). Then my friend moved to another state.Hmmmmm it seems jobs are being elusive to me.

Right after college I worked in a library. It sucked. I thought I would like it because I'm shy and an introvert, it was actually really boring. I put the books away as a page. So boring. I was also front desk clerk and my anxiety made that hard for me. Also my co-workers were assholes. Petty assholes.

Sometimes, what makes my job so very difficult is when unwell children patients cry. It's also triggering because being a mother, when my daughter has been in pain I felt so helpless. And sometimes I've cried because...I couldn't help but to.

TRIGGER WARNING

Below is a link to a BBC News article called 'Is it OK for doctors to cry'?

Is it OK for doctors to cry? - BBC Ideas

Quoting: Should doctors show their emotions when speaking to a patient? Can showing empathy be positive or negative for healthcare professionals?

This video is interesting - and challenging - and raises questions as to whether doctors should cry when faced with patients in pain and distress. I hope it can be useful to some of you.

Never left a job unless moved, major move I mean, and unless had much better paid position available. I don’t normally leave jobs.

I have life long career and I love it. I’d not choose career I don’t love but some job assignments were rough. Still couldn’t ever afford to just leave. I always had to pay bills.

I sometimes took side jobs to help pay bills. Can’t say I really loved those jobs but I needed the income. I left side jobs when I didn’t need extra income.

I once worked a job (in my career field) that was so rough that people were quitting in the middle of the day. Not me. I am not easily rattled. First of all I thought it wasn’t that bad plus again I needed a paycheck. It’s a luxury to be able to quit jobs left and right
