She has such an adorable personality & seemed so happy to be there, & ecstatic about winning the gold again. I miss the amazing flying through the air & doing all those turns, snowboarders & skiers. And the beautiful figure skating. There was some sadness, too. I hope they'll be ok.
Yeah, I am too. It seemed to go so fast. I've been watching some events I think I missed or they didn't cover enough via On Demand. It gave me a brief escape, even though I miss my programs too which are on hiatus cause of the Games.

I just watched the closing ceremonies yesterday, so I've been behind.

Chloe Kim, yes! And Eileen Gu, though she's gotten backlash for competing for China since she was born here. She can represent whom she wants!

When watching the figure skating gala, I thought I could finally enjoy it WITHOUT chatter. But lo and behold, they talked at the beginning after the music started and also near the end, while music is still going. It ruined it for me. It also seemed they either didn't have many participants in the gala or they cut some of the coverage for commercials.

I don't remember having to hear chatter during the gala in past Olympics.

Really enjoyed some skaters who didn't end up on the podium: Canada's Keegan Messing's free skate to "Home" by Philip Phillips (I love that song anyway) and U.S. pairs' Alex Knierim and Brandon Frazier's skate to "Fix You" (REALLY LOVE THAT SONG) by Cold Play.

The gravity defying tricks of aerial skiers and snowboarders never cease to amaze me, I swear! It's really amazing to see in slow motion, when you see how much is going on. They change arm and leg positions many times before they land, must have to do with physics. Still that's a lot to do in 4 seconds!

I wasn't surprised to hear many have a gymnastics background. And that applies to divers too, who do the same kind of tricks. They practice on a trampoline.

I was watching some of the skeleton again, where you end up going up to 80mph, lying on your stomach on some kind of slide that looks flimsy to me. I'd never have to courage to do that and can't even imagine myself doing it! You have to be fearless.

I'm also missing it too!

Thanks to BBC, I missed GB Women's Curling final. Wasn't sleeping well Saturday night/Sunday morning so decided to get up around 330am. I thought in time for the final. Switched on to find it had finished. Pleased with result though.

Stayed up for a while to watch 4-man Bobsleigh instead. Another sport where competitors are fearless. Then remembered many years ago, Christopher Dean (of Torville and Dean) tried it with another GB skater Nicky Slater.

Closing ceremony spectacular!

For the 2000 Sydney Summer Games, I stayed up till midnight everynight watching that, even sitting through commercials. But I was 20 years younger then, and I no longer can stay up nearly that late even if I skipped commercials (which I can't stand now).

The name Nicky Slater rings a bell. See you remember Torville and Dean too.

I've gotten confused about what I've seen and not seen, as I watched hours a day and some events were on USA. I think they showed the highlights in primetime on NBC, so I might have seen some things twice without realizing it.

I'm not as focused as usual, like before 2020, with all that's going on in the world. I did try to enjoy them and I guess I did for the most part.....It IS the only event that brings the world together for about 2 1/2 weeks.

Yeah I know it's over, but I forgot to say how I've noticed the Russians don't dominate figure skating anymore. For decades, they won in all the "disciplines", sometimes a "sweep" (all 3 medals).

Now skaters from China and Japan are really rising up in the ranks!

I've been watching reruns of freestyle aerials and big air aerials. Just can't get enough of those tricks. YIKES!!!! They are SO HIGH when they do that!

I haven't been able to see reruns. I miss the aerials & big air, too. I remember what it looked like & how I felt. And some of the other events. They stay in my mind, along with my emotions.

I'm not sure if big air was part of the Olympics from the get go. I don't remember it in 2018 and certainly not 2014? I should look it up and see when it was added.

Snowboarding wasn't always a part of the Olympics so glad they added that! Skateboarding was added in the 2020 Tokyo Games.

I think the paralympic winter games are starting if it provides any interest.

Thank you, Ford Puma! I just now googled about it, & it says I can watch it on NBC. I don't have cable or a computer (just my flip phone browser), so I can only get it on NBC. I'm so glad to find out about this!

Would you have to suffer through commercials??

I found out big air aerials was added in 2018 to Winter Olympics. It looked familiar but it WAS 4 years ago! I was 90% sure it wasn't in the 2014 Games.

Snowboarding was recognized in 1998! (Olympics)

I'm grateful for the commercials because they allow me to watch for free, using my rabbit ears indoor antenna.

True, but I didn't know rabbit ears still work? I thought we all switched to "digital" signals years ago, and you had to get a converter box or else cable or something.

Funny I not only remember rabbit ears but just a few channels. And fewer commercials. They weren't SO LONG. If I can't bypass them, I mute the TV or change the channel.

I think my tv has like a converter in it. And I usually mute the commercials, & I have closed captioning to glance at if I want to.

Oh, okay. I heard people had to buy separate converter boxes for "analog" TV's. It's good that it's built in. I guess it depends on how old the TV is. I still have an extra bulky TV that's "analog" in storage for "emergencies." It works but would need either a converter box or cable or something like that.

Gosh it was a big deal when we got a roof antennae when I was a teenager.

I have a smart TV which doesn't have an antenna or cable. But I have wifi and can stream from Netflix, hulu, Amazon Prime, or Disney Plus. Of course there is a fee for each service. I think hulu is the best for TV shows, but Disney Plus is the most affordable and best for movies.

Think opening ceremony for paralympics is tomorrow (Friday).

Makes me feel very humble, as even being able bodied, I can't play any sport (well, maybe table tennis!).

Me too. I hated PE in school. Even calisthenics we’re hard for me. I was never fast or strong enough, always picked last for a team.winter olympics 2022

I’m a much better spectator.winter olympics 2022 That’s why I enjoy the Olympics so. I could train from childhood and not be that good. I think some people have natural ability.winter olympics 2022

it was more of a popularity contest when they picked teams in PE class when I was a kid. But I would be picked last either way.

NBC didn't show the paralympics. I feel left out. Oh well. Maybe later on I can buy DVDs of the various competitions in both the winter olympics & the paralympics.
