I really want to know.
What on earth makes an IV drip smell the way it does?

If it's just chemicals, (which I don't think it is), then it is disgusting

What kind of drip are you getting? My K drips burn too much for me to notice a scent, but saline flushes don't really smell themselves but make me think I taste and smell them (I feel like it's the plastic getting in, but I don't know if that has any basis. Kinda tequila ish).

but it is chemicals. Everything (except light kinda) is chemicals. Perfume? Chemicals. Alcohol? Different types of chemicals. Cinnamon? Chemicals.

Depends what kind of IV? What medication are you getting? I didn’t smell anything when I needed IV for any reason.

Actually I've gone through the IVs I remember and I think the only time I "smell" them is when they flush the line not when they are actually doing the drips.

Saline IV, never smell. Have had them with meds or IV nutrition. All kinds of different IV solutions. Some have smell some don't depending on content of the IV bag being given
