And here I am for my usual end of the year thread
So, as usual this year had ups and downs. The last months have been challenging, because I'm taking a course to hopefully increase my job opportunities in the field I like, and it's not so easy; but I'm glad to have found a place in this course and to have this opportunity.
I'm glad to have found an apprenticeship place in the school I wanted the most, because I already worked there and I can go there feeling comfortable and sometimes I can meet ex students and colleagues. I'm also glad the student I'm supporting for my apprenticeship is a nice kid to work with.
And I'm grateful for all the moments I'm spending with my family despite the many things to do for study and work, because the more busy I am the more I appreciate these moments.
There would be much for the be grateful for, but this is my short summary of the year
What about you?

Hi @BeaFlower - nice to hear from you. Good luck in your apprenticeship. Sounds like a great opportunity.

I am finding mindfulness has helped me a lot in being a caregiver. I used to struggle with frustration and anger at their stubborn attitude. I still see their stubborn attitudes but I have learned most of the time not to react to those situations.

Honestly, this year really really sucked. I was so sick almost the entire year, and I missed a lot of trips and family events. I'm just glad the year is over and I'm going to make next year better. I've already started applying for jobs and working out everyday.

I guess I'm grateful I have a good medical team and a good therapist. And a supporting family.

I’m grateful to be out of a relationship that wasn’t working out for me

I’m grateful for my friends. Most of my friends are online friends but they’re some of the best friends I’ve ever had

I’m glad I have my kitty Mustachio still by my side. I lost two of my cats (they passed away due to old age/health issues) in the past year so it really sucked.

Im grateful for my new psychiatrist and therapist. They are both very good.

I’m glad to have started EMDR this year

I’m glad for my volunteer job working with rescue cats. It’s very fun and fulfilling.

I’m glad I got a new kindle. My new one is much better than my really old one. I’m also glad I got a tablet too because it’s so nice to be able to stream shows and movies on there and play games etc.

I’m grateful I’m healthy and doing well

I’m grateful for my amazing violin teacher. I’ve learned so much with her and am excited to keep learning more with my lessons

I am grateful I have made the entire year without a psych hospitalization!!

I am grateful I have a wonderful husband who has stuck by me despite all my psych issues. I am grateful to have an awesome, brilliantly smart good teenage daughter

I am grateful for my 2 sisters who are more like friends than just family.

I am grateful my mother is 1 year cancer-free.

I am grateful for my cats, even if we lost one stray we worked so hard to save; I am still grateful for the time I got with him.

I am grateful that though we are not wealthy or even well-off by any means that we can afford our home, food, clothing, and necessities.

I am grateful that my husband finally has a stable job, and that he has just one more year of teaching to make it to tenure.

I am grateful for this forum, where I can voice thoughts I can't even voice to my husband.

I am grateful to have a great psychiatrist, one with an emergency cell you can call after hours, on weekends, on vacations.

I got news that I would be getting an unexpected grant of funds. But it has been almost a year and I still haven't received it yet.

Most of this year was not good. One reason I am looking to make some changes in 2025.

I’m beyond grateful for my family

I’m grateful for where I live and the sense of community

I’m grateful for a good medical facility close by and the meds that keep me stable

I’m grateful to a government that has SS and housing for the seniors.

My family has become closer and closer the past few years and for that alone, I am grateful.

Totally unrelated but one of my favorite memories for 2024 was I was at a minor league baseball game and I saw a guy crush a ball at least 500 feet. The ball landed on top of a restaurant way past left field. It was a majestic blast.

Didn't spend 50% of the days on the toilet draining a carbuncle on my *** for days
got better at violin
found some more good music
Seeing snow on October 14th
Meeting some cool people
Getting out of a bad relationship
Finding a new relationship
possums
not being trampled by a moose
not going to prison
that one day it wasn't 100000dF over the summer
My pdoc. She's kinda useless but fun to talk to

  • This is the first time in years that I've not longed to go into hibernation in November
  • I staved off financial problems during an extended period of reduced pay
  • Health insurance with an out of pocket maximum
  • 0% APR loan for my wife's dental surgery (if I pay it off in < 12 months)

I'm grateful for :
- -All the extra shifts I got at work, I was working close to full time hours this past year.
- being able to come off 2 meds and reduce one which has left me with more energy and feeling less sedated.
- having affordable housing that's clean and quiet
- my friends who have stuck with me through everything
- my family who all came together for the funeral for my brother, and a couple of my siblings and I have made the commitment to stay in more regular touch.
-the double recovery meetings I facilitate have moved to being in person rather than over zoom and it's really nice to see people in person.
