If I had a Billion dollars.

I would implement better money making paths to help native americans become powerful . Other than rese casinos... I would build healthclubs, and world class resorts close to Reservations owned and operated by natives.

I would buy a very high quality and inexpensive forclosed home in a decent area.

I would put myself through school, so that I can work in a field that I would really love.

Or maybe I'd open a gym...

I'd get good therapy and fix my health problems.

Then prepare myself to have a child.

What would you do???

I would set up a trust fund for my wannabe-musician son, so he can do what he loves without starving to death. If I had a billion dollars

I would buy a house and furnish it with stuff NOT from IKEA. If I had a billion dollars Or garage sales, either.

I would pay off all my bills and then buy an environmentally-correct luxury car -- no limos or Hummers. I might hire a hunky young chauffeur to take me around, too. If I had a billion dollars (Yes, I have car issues. I haven't had one in my whole life that hasn't been an enormous PITA mechanically.)

I would buy myself a deserted tropical island and make it women-only. I would staff it with shirtless, muscular, tanned cabana boys and pay all my girlfriends' airfare and incidentals so they could join me in a male-free zone and be waited on hand and foot. There would have to be great refrigeration to handle the stocking of vast quantities of ice cream, of course, and a way to keep a multitude of chocolate from melting. If I had a billion dollars

I would travel somewhere outside of Wisconsin and Minnesota! Aside from a family funeral in KC a couple years ago, I have not been anywhere that is not in one of those 2 states since the year 2000.

Fun post, thanks. If I had a billion dollars

I would donate all the money (except for the small amount I need to live) to the following:

1) Foster-kids who are aging out of the system and have no support. I would set up shelter that educate them and teach them trades if they want. Also, a place where they will have emotional support, when they are kicked out of the system. (Note: Most homeless people were foster kids and only 10% of foster kids goto college and only 4% graduate graduate college)

2) Animal shelters would be supported so they do not have to kill animals. All shelters will be no-kill and would keep the animals until they get homes. Facilities would be nice and comforting for the animals.

3) Healthcare facilities for low income families, providing complete family physical, mental, and dental care. No one turned away...

BY that time, there is nothing left.

Riptide, you have a very noble heart and those are great ideas!!

I would do the following:

Set up business schools in at risk neighborhoods and teach enterpernerual skills to the poor for free. I would also offer low interest loans and free professional advice to those folks to suceed.

Create an investment fund specializing in Micro-lending to help people in the third world make a better living for themselves.

Set up a fund to procure, set up, and pay for computers for the poor. This day and age knowledge is power.

Create a fund that allows the homeless to deposit thier SSI and Welfare checks, safely and that will pay them interest back. This will allow them to begin to accumulate actual money, which ultimatley will allow them to pay for a place to live.

Offer a large prize to any archtect, which can design a mass producable environmentally friendly, expandable , quality modular home which can be produced and sold for 50K or less. I would set up a company to build these homes and offer low interest loans to those interested in purchasing them.

Set up a fund that will allow low income folks to buy a civic hybrid or a prius, I would require if they have a pre-90s car that it be turned over to me and I will have it stripped and crushed. Therby reducing the carbon footprint.

Set up subsidized private schools for low income folks in areas where the public schools have failed. These schools would use innovative methods of teaching to help the most at risk kids perform better

Donate genrously to cancer research, aids research, and alzheimer's research.

Those are just a few things I could think of, Good Topic!!

i would bulldoze down my parents crappy little house and build them a comfortable, beautiful home... give my dad a workshop in the back yard.

i'd get my niece a good T.. to make up for the baboons who are raising her now.

animals shelters - definitely!

programs for women who are like i was... who needed some kind of intermediate bridge to a better life.. the current systems are geared towards physical violence and crisis.. everyone else has to sink or swim

i would create free spay and neuter clinics for low income family pets... and same for feral animals

i'd lobby to have the laws changed to more seriously punish animal abusers - dont even get me started If I had a billion dollars

publicity campaign for better public transit systems... hey north america - ever hear of the train? check out europe's system

i'd pay off my student loans

i'd buy the best scanner/copier that money can buy and send a beautiful picture of my butt (signed and kiss printed) to all the jerks who tried to tell me i couldn't make it

I would buy a new car, put away money for college, buy my dad another motorcycle, and donate to cancer and diabetes research.

What happened to if I had a million :-)

Yesterday I was at a pet store and looked at the cats up for adoption from the local shelter and fell in love with 3 of them but already have 2 at home and live in a very small house with a husband who made me promise "only 2" :-) The three cats moved me to tears so I had to go elsewhere in the store and think about other things but the rest of the day I was imaging a cat home that would work, have paid and volunteer people coming daily and someone living there at night too, etc. I so wanted to pet one of the cats and tell it it would be all right. . . I was also picturing myself a little old cat lady If I had a billion dollars and wondering how many cats this little place could support if my husband dies first.

first i would buy myself a new house, big enough for all my kids and grandkids to have their own bedrooms, in the mountains.

Next i would pay off the homes of all my relatives who have been helping us survive since my breakdown.

next i would set up a fund to help mentally ill trying to get through the red tape to get social security disability to be able to survive and not lose their homes and get the help that they need till they can get back on their feet again.

then i would fund a family clinic where everyone is treated equally no matter what their problem, mental or physical, and not have to worry about how they would be able to pay for it

I'd buy a house,

I'd probably go back to school to study to be a social worker.

I'd donate to mental health research.

I'd set up free low cost therapy centres with trained psychologists so that people could get affordable therapy.

I'd do a lot of travel.

hell, with a billion, i'd start my OWN charity, and make sure that it would be run right. i think more than anything, it would work to give people the necessities-food, water basic shelter- so they could pave their own way in life.

A billion eh?

Well, some would go into a good money-saving account, probably some stable stocks as well.

Some would be donated to charities (for everything from disabilities, to people in 3rd world countries, for animals, for research to solve diseases).
Specifically: probably Spina Bifida research, research for the mental health field, cancer research, AIDS/HIV, poverty, animal rights/protection, education for those who can't afford it, money for orphans, money for poor families, and anything to help those in 3rd world countries.

Some of it would be given to my family so that way my sisters (especially) would have their education paid for.

I'd put money aside for the rest of my education, find a nice (small) place near my university - buy a dog, get my drivers license and get myself a nice vehicle as well (something economical preferably).

Then I'd save money so I could go on trips with my family during the summer and during the winter months.

Oh and I'd help my friends with their education if they needed it, make a donation to my university, and to the chaplaincy on campus.

And I'd totally throw a (small) party for people. If I had a billion dollars

Id move to a nice hotel while my new house was being built and shop on ebay and get everything i ever thought looked neato. From the new laptop to some weird antique things that i cant figure out what they are but look pretty.

Id like to think id donate to charities and i probably would some but for me i would rather i think help people i see. Maybe help people here on the forum and/or drive through neighborhoods and leave prepaid credit cards for ten grand in apmt building mailboxes of small houses mailboxes. Nothing too outrageous but something i could do every time i feel depressed about the world.

Id be curious to see if i even would be mentally ill if i had that much money. They say money cant buy happiness but i have a feeling i could either shop my blues away or watching someone be relieved they can pay a bill with the money that i think it could easily buy my happiness.

I'd help all my realatives and friends pay off their debts, so they don't have to worry about it, give myself a trust so I can afford college, as well as a nice chunk of money for my own savings, and put the rest in charities. I don't want, or need a glamorous life...just a nice house, some pets, or maybe I'd live in a city or town area, where I could either walk or use some mass transit system to get around. I want a kid someday, most preferably a daughter...but it's not like I'd be abusive if I had a son or something. Of course, only when I'm in a relationship with someone that I love.

...oh, and let's not forget to have a Pokemon collection If I had a billion dollars </font>
