There's a interactive display at the mall close to campus from Friday-tomorrow (Sunday). I went both on Friday PM, and a LOT of today (essentially from 10-3:45).

They had different pets that people own... from types of snakes, to turtles, to skinks, to toads and frogs.

You could pay to have your picture taken with some of the different animals if you wanted. And boy, did I ever *want* to. So I did.

(And I have every intention of going back tomorrow after church!)

Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)

This is a Royal Ball Python. Lovely lady... very thick, not too long... 5-6 feet I believe.

Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)

This is a Brazilian Rainbow Boa. Lovely creature. A little skittish though. Probably the longest snake at the exhibit... maybe 7 feet?

Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)

These are male and female Black Rat snakes. Liked to move. But a wonderful colour. Male is smaller than the female... which apparently is quite typical.

These last two snakes... One has rough scales, and shed all over me just by it's moving around. The other is albino (but apparently is missing two genes, and not just one which is a typical albino) so she (or he) is pure white, not yellow.

I forgot to record their names though, so when I go back tomorrow (hopefully for more pics!) I'll edit this post... or post new pics!!

Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)

Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)

I love snakes. Actually, I just love animals.

I love holding snakes...people expect them to feel cold but they're actually not...they're warm. Thanx for posting these pics. Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)

The ball python was the warmest of all of them... probably because she was handled the most. They're not exactly cold, but not exactly warm. Not at all slimy like what people expect them to be... quite nice creatures, all of them.

These guys are all people's pets, so they're tame enough to be handled by just anyone. Which is nice, because this was an awesome experience.

Thanks katheryn... they're really not as scary as some people may think. Actually... I find some dogs more scary. (Weird, I know) Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)

Cool Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)

I had snakes before I moved here to Illinois. I had 8 in all, and the smallest one was about 10 feet. Unless you count the rattlesnake I had (yes, still venomous), he was almost 7 feet. I was the only one that could, or would handle him. Had the safest house on the block too! (gee, I wonder why Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!))

I had Burmese Pythons. Total feeding per month was 24 full grown rabbits and 6 full size rats.

Was a time or 2 that I let the rattlesnake roam the house and woke up with it in bed next to me. First few times was a shocker but I got used to it. Funny, it never bothered my dog, who was in bed next to me. And the dog never bothered it either. Which I thought was strange.

Oh well, nice pix!

I LOVE snakes. I don't have any, but my cousins had them growing up and I just adored them. They are so elegant in the way they move.
Thanks for sharing the pics with us, they are truly beautiful creatures.

<font color="purple">I love snakes, but I could never have one as a pet, mymom is phobic of them and thinks they are (literaly) pure evil and serve no natural purpose (I try to tell her otherwise...but to no avail) I wouldn't want a big snake, maybe just the little corn snakes

I don't love snakes, but I don't dislike them either. Bees? now they PETRIFY me. I don't care where I'm at...I will dance and what hubby calls "puffing".

What great pics! You are a LOVELY lady. I feel we could sit and talk all day! Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)

Great pics Christina! I'm really jealous....grrrrrrrrrrrr Wish it was me with all those snakes. What beautiful specimens.

I had my daughters ball python for 2 years and I just loved having her. She was wonderful and used to love to curl up on my computer desk next to my monitor where it was warm. Every now and again she would work her way to the keyboard and type with me Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)

I also had a blue tongued skink for about a year. Her name was Matrix and she was a real sweety.

I wish I was in a position to have snakes again...I would love to have a few.

Thanks for sharing ((((((((((((( Christina ))))))))))))))

Just lovely!

You know you wouldnt think it, but snakes develop personalities too, much like cats and dogs do.

Riptide...

Only a little bit. I had to take the first one (ball python) off my neck because she was trying to hold on and was quite heavy... but not in a dangerous sense. A little bit of squeezing, but I've had more pressure from an excited dog that wants to be up on you!

Snake charmer are we? I met one person who had 10? I think... that's a few too many for me. I just want one now. Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)

If they had a Burmese python... I'd probably have wanted to play with one of them as well. Alas, not in the cards. Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)

Having a rattlesnake... very brave indeed!

I saw a few corn snakes... they actually had an albino one who was kinda cute. I'll probably post more pictures tomorrow because I'm going back. Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!) Apparently corn snakes is a good choice for a starter "snake" pet.

There were a few phobic people at the show... who walked by and totally freaked out. Sadly some people just wont learn about them unless they're forced to.

*sends a snake in the mail*

Or maybe not...

Actually funny story. Apparently one of the snakes at the display was found in a head of lettuce after it was bought at a grocery store. That is one lucky/unlucky snake!

I actually got to see the blue tongued skink they had... but they will only let us (the public) handle the snakes and the turtles (as far as I know, nobody wants to hold a turtle... but I did pet it!)

Yes indeedy! They do have some very interesting personalities and quirks. Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!) Kinda fun to watch how they interact with people and their handlers. And fun to play with for the pictures too!

Many many years ago, a friend of mine had two boas...Alice and George. We used to take them to the park and what a great time we would have. George was bigger than Alice so my friend would take him....and George was really kind of laid back and quiet. Alice and I became great friends and she had a specific way of wrapping herself around me when we walked. It was quiet endearing. She would always make sure her head was up around my neck and cheek and she was always leaning into my cheek like she was hugging me Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!) She was quite the spitfire and would reach out to others who were interested in touching her. Very social she was while George would just lay there and look totally disinterested...LOL. They were great fun though Snakes! (Pics, dont read if you don't like them!)
