Hi everyone, several weeks ago, I posted some information about Honda’s upcoming Hydrogen Fuel Cell car, The FCX Clarity. As I said before I believe that car will be among the most important in the 21st century. Though not ready for prime time yet, it is an important step toward a vehicle that does not pollute the air and uses no fossil fuels.

Next week the PBS television automotive magazine: Motorweek, has been handed one to put through its paces and test driven under real world conditions. If any of you are interested check your local PBS station for air time. Below I have attached a link to the Motorweek website, featuring further info about the car.

Motorweek is a 30 minute automotive magazine on TV, syndicated from the Public Broadcasting Station in Maryland. The very affable host, John Davis and his staff deliver an excellent production packed full of information balanced for both the enthusiast and the joe-average consumer, who may be in the market for a new automobile. The show also includes car and maintenance tips from expert Pat Gauss. I highly recommend the show to anyone who wants to learn more about cars.

Here is the link, the original thread sparked a terrific discussion, and if anyone wants to know more about alternative fuel tech or cars in general, you are welcome to PM me anytime.

Take care

TJ

thank you, it will be some time before the average person can run to the local car dealer and get one of these. Nevertheless it is a great glimpse into what could be our future.

Take care NTR my friend

Based on what I have read, the fuel-cell technology has a lot of promise. When they are further developed, and when pricing can compete, I will buy one.

Thirty years ago, President carter wanted to put us on course to be energy independent by the turn of the century. A large part of his program involved alternative sources of renewable energy. Unfortunately every administration since then has ignored the issue, and the fossil fuels are polluting our air and water more and more.

Hybrids are an improvement, but still need to be filled with gasoline.

Did you ever see the movie, "Who Killed the Electric Car?"?

yes, kind of sad really about what happened with the EV-1, it was a great concept, if it had been properly developed, the long range Litium-Ion batteries would have already been ready by now.

You may have heard of the Tesla Roadster, a heavily modified Lotus Elise, that runs entirely on Lithium Ion batteries, it can go from zero to sixty in just over 4 seconds and 250 miles on a single charge

Google: Tesla Motors and the web site should come right up.

You are right about what happened during the Carter Adminstration, the idea to develop alternate energy (the only decent thing that Jimmy managed to get out there) should have been pursued, we would all be a lot further along than we are now.

In addition to the Honda's Clarity, Chevrolet is testing a fleet of Hydogen Powered Equinox SUVs, also very promising.

Next year GM is set to release the Volt,a reversed Hybrid, in other words an electric car that is kept charged by a tiny gas engine (expected EPA 80-95Mpg)

All of the Clarity's clients will be there in CA, so you may actually get to see one of these live and in person. Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband are among the first customers.
