I am wondering. hmmmmmmmmmmm. is this really where i put something like this? oh well it is here anyways.

I am pretty sure that only a handful of you know about what is really going on. I didn't wnna pitty party for my time here, but it has come to a point where I just can't handle this alone. So it's like I am kinda comming out of the closet lol.

I have Polysycstic Kidney Disease (PKD). Several sycsts are on the kidneys and over time the kidney swells and quits and one of 2 things happen. 1 you get a transplant. 2 you die. I have less than a year left. I refuse a transplant because I could be taking something away from a child or somebody that won't need another one in a few years that can live thier life and really accomplish something. My family is upset with me. They keep saying that I am worthy of a transplant. Just because I can't see it doesn't really mean that it's not true. I don't know. I think that I have lived my life and I should give someone a chance to do the same.

ok I am done talking about it. Please don't PM me with the whoa is me stuff or links to places where i can read more info...........i have done all that. Love to all and take care.

Hi, knowing a 17 year old who was born with this illness, and knowing her two older sibs died shortly after birth, I guess I feel like I am somewhat enlightened.

We all think that a transpalnt is a fix all, end all. It is not. After the transplant which is very large hairy deal. Once that is over one has to take anti-immune suppresent drug drugs. My friends 17 year old developed lmphoma and spent 125 days in the hospital close to death. I don't know how large you are, if you can do home dialysis but she did for over a year and it went well. I pass no judgement on your choice. You must do what you feel is right. In this part of the country children are weighted over adults for transplants. Good luck with whatever you do. What is your creatnin now?

OMG! Someone else has my disease!!!! How are you handling it? I am currently on a transplant list. My husband, babies and I pray every night. He offered one of his but he isnt a match. Are you a mom or married? Do they know?? It would be nice to talk to someone who can identify with my thoughts.

my creatinine is 6. I haven't really thought about home dialysis. If it wasn't for going to the dr I don't think that i would ever leave the house. I decided that since I am going to court tomorrow that i would go back on my meds and do my dialysis. ugh. well that is the way it has to be. well talk to y'all soon.

Hey meds are good- and i do feel bad knowing there are other people on the list, but i look at my husband and our babies and I couldn't imagine abandoning them. I love them all too much. I give you credit for your choice.

See its not about me, its about my family. I choose not to worry about the extreme future. Ok the kidney could either go to myself or to little johnny. And maybe little Johnny will be a president or something someday. What about my babies? my life stopped being about me the moment i conceived. They need me, not little johnny. and it sucks that it goes that way... but that is also why my whole family is undergoing testing to donate. Do you have children?

I have 2 children. I found out that the family that I have believed that was my family really isn't. They have been tested. The reason that I would rather not go through with the transplant is because I would have to get another one.

What do you mean your family isn't your family??? And also, how old are your kids? are they old enough to be without a mother?

This is a serious decision you have made. I do question your not feeling worthy of a transplant???? You have a family & there is the question of how much they need you, their Mother. I'm sure you have thought through all the issues surrounding a transplant & there are never sure things in life. I hope you take everything into consideration & listen to your family needs too.

I hope you look at it logically, emotionally, taking everything into consideration....& let your family be involved in the final decision.
