Yikes...I don't drink a lot of water...

Better start carrying a water bottle around with me to sip!

How is everyone doing?

I've decided to post what I eat on my blog, to consolidate things.

I didn't skip my bus and walk today because the weather was pretty crappy.

water, tea... same thing. Call me skeptical, but it would take a lot to convince me that there is a huge difference in effect.

Gaaaaaaaaa, I couldn't take it any more. I had some tortilla chips and salsa con queso today. At least I measured and counted and only had one serving. I was actually getting sick of the cheese before I finished it, but I didn't feel like redoing the math. LOL I would have preferred salsa.

I trampolined for about 25 minutes yesterday in a couple of sessions and I've trampolined a little bit off and on today.

Salsa hot type foods help a person to lose weight.. it revs up the metabolism (though the fat in the chip might slog it back down lol)

Ok LMo, remind me when I 'm feeling good to find the research on that... (did I say feeling GOOD? ah hem...better?) I don't think I remembered it wrong that may be may be

Good thing I bought some healthy choices on the one outing weeks ago... I haven't been out of the house to go eat, with this pneumonia.

Is anyone else wondering how they will read this thread months or years from now (when we're all slender?) and someone bumps it up... lol oh yeah, I had pneumonia then... hehehe

I need some low calorie snacks...both sweet and salty, crunchy and creamy.

It's really hard to resist my cravings. I need to replace the chips and the candy with other things.

Any ideas?

Salty
- celery, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli w/low fat dip
- low fat microwave popcorn
...?

Sweet
tea with sweetener
...?

I try to eat almonds and walnuts to replace the salty cravings. They do have fat and calories, but since they're kind of rich, I get sick of them before I do a whole lot of damage.

Can't help you with the sweet stuff. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, except for cinnamon tic-tacs.

Ok, i've got one for ya. I eat once a day. Usually around 6pm. When I do eat, I eat small because I am not that hungry. In the past 90 days I have gained 32 pounds. Any ideas?

p.s. I haven't shared my story because I wanted to get to know you guys first. When you know my story you will know the answer. I just want to see if anyone can guess what is going on.

Is this a quiz? Or are you concerned?

Ok, so you're going to make us guess.

A) You said you eat "small" - I'm guessing by this you mean volume. So, do you eat a box of butter every night?

B) Your body is probably in survival mode and your metabolism is probably shot from eating only one small meal per day. That means that your body hoardes the calories instead of burning them.

C) You get your calories via IV?

These are merely guesses since you didn't give us much to go on.

So? What's the answer?

lol.....here is a hint....

I had the same weight for 15 years.(I wore the same size pants at 30 that I wore after high school, 32) ...In the past 3 months I have gained unexplainable weight. The only difference is, is that my heart rate has gone up.(No drugs involved so stop it)
What do you think?

Well weight (ha ha) -- if you and your doctors can't explain it, having much more information than we do, then how the heck would we know? Weight loss thread

Ok, here's another guess. For the past 15 years, you were undernourished?

Or, you hit 35 and you finally got the same gut that the rest of us started developing during college?

Or, you don't eat much but you drink a ton of beer?

Come on man - throw me a bone!

and lay off the drugs, would ya...

ack! oh no!

well YEAH you're scared! why wouldn't you be? holy moly! Weight loss thread

so they think that your heart is causing the weight gain? I wouldn't have guessed that, but then again, I'm just a software geek who works in my basement.

Man, Brian - that is a huge bummer. I'll be sending you positive vibes over the next month or so, ok? ~~~~~

Do you have congestive heart failure and you're gaining water weight? My ex-mother-in-law lost 80 pounds of fluid overnight once they got her to the hospital (she was paranoid schizophrenic and wouldn't leave the house).

When we don't eat enough each day (minimum 1200 cal for women, it's more for men) the body STORES everything it takes in, as it doesn't know when it will get more fuel. (Goes into starvation mode.)

I eat one meal a day usually, but eat it in 2 portions... hours apart.
Recently I've added oatmeal and walnuts for heart health.

You need to drink lots of water...that is what gets rid of water weight (I know, it sounds backwards...but easy to find out if it's water weight..)

I know some ppl only eat once a day.. but that's a fast food meal..and it's loaded with fat! (like 60 gms of fat in a whopper or such?)

Not feeling hunger is a symptom... try some of the member's suggestions here, and if nothing helps, get a physical. TC, glad you were able to finally ask! Weight loss thread

I've been curious if that 1200 calorie minimum factors in if you're sedentary? Or is that the minimum if you ARE sedentary? Weight loss thread

well to be honest. They have already done an ablation(a scope into the heart) and found 2 holes which they fixed. We were hoping that it was the problem but it wasn't.

The problem is, is that I have what they call orthostatic hypotention.(which means when I stand up my blood pressure drops and my heart rate increases). I also have been going into atrial fibrilation about every day now.(This is bad because it causes blood clots)

The open heart surgery is mainly exploratory. They(my 2 cardiologists and my neurologist) can't explain it. I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences or know of someone who has.

p.s. Cool sig Miss Jenn made for me huh? lol

very kewl siggy!

I would surely keep after the doctor about your weight, they have to have some knowledge as to how to combat this, imo.

I didn't go eat, didn't order in...just ate oatmeal. Maybe today since Ihave to go to therapies... I'll also go eat (and then again, I might be too fatigued.)

I'm really struggling with boredom eating right now because it is my "reading week" at university.

Tomorrow I think I'm going to buy lots of soup so i can fill myself up on low cal soup when I feel like eating out of boredom.
