That's good, green, that you are increasing activity too!

I am not quite eating 1200 calories a day, yet...though I have been eating fruit everyday, smaller meals more often, nuts, oats and not sipping any cognac (though I need it for muscle relaxation.) bad news... I've gained 10 lbs since eating more than one meal a day. I am not able to be any more active than I am.. so maybe I will never be able to eat much? Too depressed over the stressors in my life...and with the cortisol dump I could gain more if I eat. So instead of the usual 2lbs a week loss, I gained.

10 pounds? That seems unlikely. You haven't changed your eating for that long. I would guess that most of it is water weight. Have you been drinking enough water? How's your salt intake?

Don't despair Sky, eating healthy can't be bad for you. Maybe cut back on portions if you're worried.

It's not that eating healthy is bad for you, but I think that _Sky and I might be in the same boat in the sense that we are consuming more calories than we're burning. _Sky has entirely different challenges than I do -- mine are all a matter of motivation -- but we both (are saying that we) eat healthy but neither of us are getting much exercise, so we're not burning calories.

Would you agree, _Sky? I don't want to put words in your mouth.

I'm starting to eat healthy!

Today I skipped the second bus again and decided to walk 30 mins home. I got so hot from walking that I had to take off my winter coat. (It's a 30 min brisk walk) I bought some groceries too. I bought one head of cauliflower, some baby carrots, 1 head of celery and 1 jar of dill pickles. (The posts about pickles started a craving within me. LOL)

The added weight of the groceries put an extra edge on my walk. Weight loss thread

So far today I had 1 cup of coffee with 2 creams and 1 sweetener. Right now I'm chowing down on a big bowl of the veggies I just bought with some low fat ranch dressing for dipping. It's yummy! I feel really good about what I've done today. Weight loss thread

Yeah LMo... and I can't increase activity... ok the oatmeal is only about 1/4 cup as it is... and apples? I have to eat 1/2 an apple (which won't meet the 2 fruits a day minimum) but then keep it...grrr wrap it up or something so it won't go brown... or the orange dry out? Ok... not impossible I guess...

I already only eat 1/2 the restaurant meal at one sitting... take 1/2 home for another meal later... no sugar and no extra salt in diet.. I don't do salt well at all, as my potassium is at bottom end and salt drops it so I begin fainting...

It has to be 1) the increased cortisol and 2) the inactivity. I can't do 1100 or 1200 calories, nope... guess I have to shoot for less somehow...

I had to quit taking the vitamins, I must be allergic to the dyes (children's vitamins, chewable.)

Ok. I said what's the use today...ate garlic rolls and a small apple pie slice. hmmm forgot to add the soda Weight loss thread

forgot to add this: [quote from realage.com] Add a good night's sleep to your checklist of helpful weight-loss aids.
Sleep deprivation interferes with appetite-suppressing hormones, increases stress hormone levels, and decreases a person's glucose tolerance, all of which may contribute to weight gain. Another way sleep loss may help pile on the pounds: late-night munching. Go to bed and get up at the same time each day to help achieve sounder sleep.

RealAge Benefit: Getting 6 to 8 hours of sleep per night can make your RealAge as much as 3 years younger.

Up until going out for supper, I'd taken in 590 calories in a meal replacement bar, a Lean Cuisine, and two cups of tea with creamer. Then I had a Reuben, diet Pepsi, and 3 fried cheese curds. No clue on the calorie count there. I haven't exercised yet today.

This is one of the rare times I actually LIKE being short, because a loss of only 5 pounds can make a big difference. Three more weeks to the water park, I can be down another 5-6. Whoo hooo!!!!

I just accidentally discovered a treat.

I put a cappuccino Slim Fast in the freezer to get extra cold. I left it in too long and it froze. I was hungry, so I turned it upside down and used a can opener to take off the bottom. I'm eating it with a spoon and it's yuuuuuuummmmmyyyyyyy.

P.S. www.calorieking.com is a great site for finding out the nutritional contents of foods, including at restaurants. You can join and get more benefits, but you don't have to.

I'm fighting the urge to give in to emotional eating. My day is going badly what with trying to work and my son begging for the computer, and another day just like it looming tomorrow.

I want to quit working, sit on the couch, and stuff my face with junk, but I know that's not going to make the problem go away. Weight loss thread

I agree with LMo about my system... my body obviously isn't cooperating with my healthy eating... HOWEVER some of the gain is probably from it fighting an infection: I have pneumonia. Weight loss thread

Gotta love Lean Cuisine.

I just want to eat and eat and eat right now, but I'm not about to undo all the good work I've done the last three weeks.

I just had roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots, green beans, and celery for a mere 190 calories. Comforting, filling, and didn't leave me feeling like I slipped up. Weight loss thread

TY green.

I ate a lean cuisine also... with additional green beans I added.

Finally I heard how MUCH water each person should drink... Take your body weight and divide it in half, take that # as ounces of water PER DAY! (such as if you weigh 150 , that would be 75 oz of water per day.

Also, something else I found out (my disability causes me to not know what my stomach is telling me...) but as we age everyone has problems with hunger signals... the body, when it's THIRSTY will make you think you are hungry!!!! So, when you think you are hungry, first drink 8 oz of water..and wait at least 10 minutes... you might not be hungry at all!

While I'm at it... for headaches, this one doctor says, before taking any medicine, drink 8 oz of water, then 10 minutes later drink another 8 oz... and odds are in your favor that your headache will go away.

Of course, I'm typing this while sick with pneumonia, so I may have to retract anything I type Weight loss thread

Hang on...calculating exactly how much water that would actually be for me.

Yep...yep...haul in the tanker trucks!

Thanks for sharing this information _Sky. I can at least shoot for something. Not that what I should be drinking is attainable, but at least I have a measuring stick now.

Feel better soon!

This is a good tip, _Sky. I've been trying to do that with tea (hence reporting gallons of tea drunk per day!).
