I took in way too many calories today. I couldn't fight the urge to to go China Buffet. I had crab legs and some roast beef, a few pieces of sesame chicken, 2 crab rangoons, half an egg roll, some green beans, and two of those flaky cinnamon-sugar cookies that I don't know the name of. I had a 180 calorie protein bar around 3:30. Then for "supper" I had a couple of slices of focaccia with onions and parmesan (the carbs, the carbs). While watching The Longest Yard I had about 400 calories of sunflower seeds and a 200 calorie Stewart's ginger beer.

Sorry -- this is off topic, but I love Stewart's Ginger Beer. And some of their others, like the diet Orange and Cream. Like a creamsicle in a bottle.

For a low cal treat, have you ever tried Canfield's Diet Chocolate Fudge soda with nonfat milk? Like a carbonated milkshake.

I forgot all about Canfield's. I used to drink it a lot like 20 some years ago. I haven't even seen it in ages. Didn't they have a chocolate cherry one too?

I'm back on the diet today, and according to the scale this a.m. I didn't do any damage yesterday. Phew! I picked up some Silk soy creamer in French vanilla. It has fewer calories than non-dairy creamer or half and half, and no partially hydrogenated oils or corn syrup.

omg Wi_fighter... nobody gains weight after ONE DAY of slacking off, silly!

I had a horrible evening attempting to snowboard yesterday afternoon/evening. I got about four runs in before giving up due to foot cramps and reckless teenagers. My friend and I have been cross-country skiing every Sunday morning but she called this morning and said she was sick. So... I have to get some other exercise in. It's nice out -- I really should get out there and do something. I can think of a million other things to do inside though... Argh.

Stewart's ginger beer is the BEST!! If you like the taste of crystallized ginger, it's like that in a bottle. I've tried other brands, but none that are as good.

GL, good for you with the self control.

What's working for me is sticking with 2 meals a day with meal replacement bars or drinks, and then a pre-packaged meal like a Lean Cuisine. This way I make sure I'm getting in a good amount of the nutrients I need since they're really well balanced. I keep things like baby carrots and rice cakes as between-meal snacks. I always have bottled water getting ice cold in the freezer. Putting SlimFast in the freezer until it gets thick is yummy too.

Keeping a running log in WordPad so I can keep a total of what I'm taking in for the day keeps me from pigging out, and it still leaves room for a treat like a piece of dark chocolate.

Up until 2-3 weeks ago I was a nonstop eater, and that really cuts into my work productivity besides keeping unneccessary pounds on, since when my hands are constantly going from food to mouth that doesn't leave as much time for typing for pay.

Depending on the type of pizza you had, that might only be about 450 calories. That's definitely not going to do in the diet. I made pizza tonight, just your basic Tombstone style with cheese, pepperoni, sausage and back bacon. One-quarter, or 2 slices if you slice it like I do, is 290 calories.

Another slice of pizza

No, it's not beer. It's soda. I don't know how they came up with the name "beer" for it. Weight loss thread

I have to add that I have a lot of foods in the house that I, personally, don't need to eat, but that I have around for my kids. Kind of like the oppositie with you and your mom. It's sooooo hard to resist going after the lunch box treats some days, but I remind myself that I have a goal to lose this flabby stomach.

I read a quote by Oprah Winfrey a few weeks ago. I don't want to repeat it because it could be a trigger for someone with an ED, but I say it to myself when I want to eat something that's really heavy on the empty calories.

I know, it's a little low. You really shouldn't drop below 1200 a day, but I more than made up those calories yesterday.

I bought a jar of Claussen dill pickle spears yesterday. Those things are too darn yummy. They really satisfy the salty, crunchy cravings. Weight loss thread

Uh-oh. I'm frightened by this, wi_fighter -- Stewart's Ginger Beer AND Claussen's dill? Go check the mirror -- do you have short red hair? Are you me?

(Answer, no, since I have no kids. Infertile, although we're working on it.)

Argh, totally ruined my diet yet again...

Had a donut and a coffee with 2 creams 2 sugars
1 slice pizza
1 chocolate Oreo
A few chips
1 piece of caramel
1 bowl rice
Some chicken

I haven't lose any weight this week, in fact, I'm gained back what I did lose. This is getting depressing.

I asked my Mom to support and help me again by not buying junk food and she told me that she wants to eat it...so junk food stays.

She told me that I shouldn't lose any weight because it's OK to be a little overweight. She offered me ice cream yesterday and I caved in. Today she offered it again, but I didn't cave in.

I bet I would eat much more healthy foods if I were living on my own. I never buy junk food when I go grocery shopping.

GL, do you notice what you're missing? Anything GREEN! You gotta EAT leafy greens to BE a leafy green. (And what did I mean by that, lol)

Seriously, though -- you gotta start getting some veggies in. No jokes about spinach putting color in your cheeks, if you like green cheeks. Veggies really are important, because that's where a lot of the vitamins you need are gonna be. You also need some fruit. If you really can't manage to EAT fruit, DRINK some. 4 ounces of fruit juice is a serving of fruit. You need a minimum of three fruits a day. And three or more veggie servings. One half cup of cooked veggies, or one full cup of raw veggies -- that's a serving. So, by having one and a half cup of, say, spinach (with its green leaves), you've just eaten enough veggies for a day. A fairly large salad will also do. (Three cups.)

Not only are those things good for you, but veggies take up room in your stomach, which helps you feel less hungry, therefore less likely to snack or binge.

It's good to remember, too, that depriving yourself by refusing ice cream is fine, but you don't want to get to feeling as though you've "failed" by eating ice cream.

Here's a non-secret from me to you: when I was at my worst for anorexic eating, I still ate ice cream. Once a week, sometimes more. I just didn't eat much of it. (Obviously) It's better to say, "OK, I really want the ice cream, so I'll have some" than to say, "I failed because I ate ice cream -- so now I may as well eat EVERYTHING left in the kitchen."

So, what sorts of veggies do you like, GL?

I agree that it's OK to "cave in" or be "bad" it's the use of such words that concern me. Healthy eating is a good habit to develop, if someone keeps beating themselves up over not being perfect, that good habit will be lost imo.

Don't worry, first off, about removing the non nutritious foods from your intake, but add the nutritious foods anyway.

"all things in moderation" if you know you will eat some cherry cheesecake on Friday, it helps to eat healthier through the week Weight loss thread and you will feel in control.

Hi Genevieve,

I do eat greens. Weight loss thread...just not everyday. I don't really eat much fruit though, probably not getting any vitamin C.

I love broccoli and a certain Chinese leafy green vegetable, not sure what it's called in English.

What veggies do you like?

I get into that "I failed" attitude quite a lot...it's something I really have to work on. It affects other parts of my life too...like school. I didn't have much ice cream the other day, maybe a quarter of a cup, but I still felt like I "ruined" my diet. I couldn't be perfect so the alternative was to be a total failure and not even try. Weight loss thread

Yep, gotta work on that a lot.

That's a really good idea Sky. It would probably even help me lose weight, since I would be filling myself on veggies and such.

So far today:

3 thick slices of bread with butter
1/4 cup lycee ice cream (just couldn't resist)

Exercise: Instead of taking two buses to get home, I only took one and decided to walk 30 minutes the rest of the way.

I have no idea what I ate today. I know it included oatmeal, prunes, almonds, raisins, and some cheese/crackers. Making dinner now - crabcakes, broccoli, rice.
