No fun.

For those who don't know, I have mild scoliosis and kyphosis in my spine, and have degenerative discs in the lumbar area.

Lately, ever since camping, it has been flaring up really bad. Yesterday I was literally in tears it hurt so much. Can't lift anything ( I am never really supposed to but sometimes I lift little things - even a grocery bag of light stuff hurts right now) Can't sit up right, Can't walk for a long time AT ALL. Going back to the doctor today for more Toridal but yeesh, Its just getting to me you know.

thanks canders, it really usually does help. They give me Toridol, which is a very strong anti inflammatory and pain med (sort of a super-ibuprofren type drug if you will) as I am allergic to all natural and synthetic opiate based drugs like codeine, morphine (though i honestly dont think i am bad enough to require morphine anyways but you get the jist) Hopefully going to get re referred to therapy for my back, since it helped in the past. Its been really good for a year or two and suddenly this summer just flared up.

I hope you get some therapy for it then ... Being allergic to opiate based drugs must be difficult (considering a lot of docs will prescribe them first)

*hugs* I still hope you feel better soon.

(((jan))))

Got my toridol today. Took two immediately and noticed a greater range of mobility within about 45 min to an hour. Pain is slightly diminished. Still getting a bit of burning on certain motions but the doc said I might have to take it fr a couple days this time before it really helps. Nonetheless, Its taking the edge off which is the important thing.

(((((rain))))) so sorry to hear this.... I have chronic pain also... part of it is back issues. I take a narcotic on a daily basis, but do go to doctor for a toridol shot for breakthrough pain.

Do you have a TENS unit? I blast my back with 8 electrodes worth to mess up the nerve's pain messages... and it helps too.

I also use ice massage... freeze water in paper or styrofoam cups, peal off and use ice to numb area of spine and trigger points from those discs... keep ice moving. This has kept me alive during many flares!
