Does anyone else experience PMDD? I feel all alone on this one. My doc gave me birth control pills, but they don't seem to be helping. I am thinking I may have to try something stronger.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I've just been diagnosed with it too and Im waiting for an appointment with the endocrinologist. I've had to have extensive blood tests and changed my lifestyle around that time of the month. I dont know what the next step is. There are some vitamin and mineral suppliments that are supposed to help. I only take fish oil and Vitamin B cos I cant afford the rest.
Thanks for this!

Thanks! I haven't been to an endocrinologist, just my family doc and between us that was the diag he came up with. Let me know what you find out. I am curious to see what they recommend because I need some answers too and at least that will give me some questions to discuss with my doc.

I have it and it is awful! I commiserate. I still get symptoms, but Zoloft helps reduce the intensity of my PMDD.

Zoloft is my normal AD but upping it at that time of the month has no effect.

Had my appointment with the endo and gyno people. They said the pill could help, but I cant go on the pill because of a blood clotting disorder. Different pills have different levels in them, perhaps you could go on one that is stronger?

My docs will try the Mirena for me but they cant do it until next year and they are very worried it will make me more depressed and they are also not keen to do it since I havent had children but the only other option is hormone treatments which are supposedly horrific for your body and not recommended for people of my age.

Sorry, there doesnt seem to be much hope. And people wonder why Im suicidal? Having to go through this every month is awful.

I've been wondering if I have PMDD, since everyone I know says that my mood is horrible a week to two before I start. I can't get on birth control until January, but I'm on zoloft and it's not having an effect yet.

I've been feeling extremely suicidal and overwhelmed lately, and I don't know if it's because it's close to starting or ovulation, or it's because it's around the holidays and all the stress that comes with it.

I can tell mine is PMDD because it stops as soon as the bleeding starts. I will feel awful for a week or two and I wont know if its depression or PMDD because I also have PCOS so my period is irregular, but as soon as the bleeding starts and I feel a million times better its all so clear. Its like the depressive switch goes off in my body. I know now I will have a few good days before waiting for the next round of it to hit.

No one seems to understand this. Everyone I talk to thinks its just like normal PMS, no, its much much much more than that.

On doing more research there are a few diets that say they have success for PMDD, but mostly it just says eat a healthy diet, which I do already with no affect. The other diets I'd have to pay for and I just dont have the money. And trying to find the foods in the diets where I live? If I had access to cheap good quality food I'd try it, but I dont.
